Hyderabad, Aug 08 (ANI): Junior doctors of Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Hospital of Hyderabad staged protest against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill, 2019 at Dharna Chowk. A junior doctor told ANI, "A person who completed 12th class can take a course of six months for medicine, Where as we studied medicines for six years after that we are eligible for practice how could they learn medicines in six months." "The government has not given clear cut criteria for next exam. We don't have complete details about the exam," protester further added. The Rajya Sabha on August 1 passed the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill 2019, proposing sweeping reforms to medical education amid protests by the medical fraternity. The bill proposes a common final-year MBBS exam, called the National Exit Test (NEXT). On the other side Indian Medical Association (IMA) called countrywide withdrawal of services on August 8.
Tokyo (Japan), Aug 08 (ANI): The Olympic Games fever has gripped Tokyo city. It's been less than a year for the mega sporting event and signs of the Olympics and logo of Tokyo Olympic are getting popular on the streets. Japan Olympic committee (JOC) recently held a preparatory meeting. The committee consists of members from the host cities, the government of Japan, prominent cultural figures and experts. The President of International Olympic Committee Thomas Bash also attended the meeting. During the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 "One Year To Go" ceremony, Thomas Bach gave an invitation to National Olympic Committee to the Tokyo Olympics. Olympic medals were also unveiled for the first time. The medals - gold, silver and bronze are manufactured from recycled mobile phones and small electronic devices. These medals are 100 percent sustainable and would not be possible without the generosity of the people of Japan.

Idukki (Kerala), Aug 08 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on August 08 chaired a high-level meeting with government officials to take stock of the condition of various parts of the state which are facing flood-like situation due to incessant rainfall. The district collectors of affected regions have been directed to continuously monitor the situation. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KDSMA) has already issued red alert for Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts, while an orange alert has been issued for several others. Parts of Idukki district have been severely flooded, as parked were seen submerged following heavy rainfall in the region. Kerala last year braved its one of the worst floods in the state's history in which more than 450 people had died and properties worth over Rs 40,000 crore.
Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh), Aug 08 (ANI): As Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur is witnessing continuous rainfall, a tractor got swept away while trying to cross a flooded bridge in Malhargarh area in the district. Due to the timely action by the locals there, the driver and one rider on the tractor were safely evacuated. Mandsaur Superintendent of Police (SP), Hitesh Chaudhary, said continuous rainfall in Mandsaur has led to flood-like situation in district, and an alert has already been issued of possibility of further rains in the region.

New Delhi, Aug 08 (ANI): Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday met the representatives of various industries amid the fears of economic slowdown, and assured them that the government would soon take crucial steps to reenergise the growth trajectory. The demand and investment has taken a hit with the automobile sector facing a significant downturn in sales in the recent months. Tata Steel's Managing Director TV Narendran, who was one of the representatives at the meeting, said the Finance Minister assured them of government action very soon to pump up public spending, easing liquidity in various sectors such as NBFCs and MSMEs.

There has been an increase in water level in the Kabini Dam of Mysuru with 46,000 cusecs of water. 40,000 cusecs of water has been released from the dam. Water level in Kabini Dam is currently 2281.5 feet and maximum level is 2284 feet.

The incessant rains are affecting the normal life, as people found it difficult to commute to through the day. Transport links also took a hit owing to flooded railway tracks in various parts of the country. The local administration of Sukma district in Chhattisgarh has been alerted by the weather department of incessant rains in next couple of days. Water logged areas have become common sight in various parts of the country.

Sushma Swaraj, who touched millions by turning Twitter into a helpline for those are in distress across the world, died due to cardiac arrest on August 06. She was 67.

New Delhi, Aug 08 (ANI): Reacting to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval's interaction with locals in Jammu and Kashmir (JandK) following the revocation of Article 370 and conversion of the state into two Union Territories (UTs), Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "You can get anyone with you through money power." Azad, who is today visiting the militancy-hit state, criticised the government for 'unilaterally' revoking Article 370 and not taking the people of JandK into confidence. Azad further said JandK might be the first state in the country which has been converted in a UT by imposing curfew.

Raut added that India should kick out all the officials of Pakistan High Commission in the national capital.
