Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 09 (ANI): A man was arrested for threatening the destruction of temples in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura and Vrindavan. Police has detained an auto rickshaw driver, Munna, whose mobile phone was allegedly used by a tourist to make threat calls at Prem Mandir in Vrindavan and Krishna Janmasthan Temple in Mathura. The incident took place on August 08, 2019. As per the information given by Mathura Police, at the reception of Prem temple, one person called and threatened to destroy it. Through surveillance, police caught the man. Accused belong to Govind nagar area of Mathura. Later, the accused told the police that his mobile phone was robbed and someone has misused it. Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 09 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended state government's saplings plantation drive event in Lucknow on August 09, 2019. Government of UP decided to plant 22 crore saplings on the Kranti Diwas and 'geotag' them to keep an eye on their growth. Schools and colleges had also been asked to select spots for the plantation. The state government has also sought the involvement of panchayats and the forest and the horticulture departments for providing the land for plantation. The state government has been concerned over depleting forest cover and scanty rain. Green cover of UP is only 9.18% against the 33% required as per the law. Geotagging will help in monitoring the project and independent agencies would supervise the green campaign's progress.
Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Aug 09 (ANI): A foreign tourist rescued by local trekkers in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu. He got several injuries and trekkers carried him on their shoulders. The identity of the foreign tourist is still unidentified.
Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir), Aug 09 (ANI): Students of Government Degree College of Kathua hoisted the National Flag on the entry gate of college. Hoisting of National Flag was followed by the abrogation of Article 370. They also chanted 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. Government of India has recently scrapped off 'Article 370' that ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir as a state. They also made made two UTs i.e. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh respectively.
New Delhi, Aug 09 (ANI): Samjhauta Express, carrying 76 Indian and 41 Pakistani nationals has reached Delhi. It reached at national capital's Old Delhi Railway Station. It had departed from the Attari Railway Station at around 1:30 am on August 09, 2019. Pakistan stopped Samjhauta Express on their side at Wagah border on August 08, 2019 citing security concerns. The passengers were stranded briefly before Indian crew members and guards escorted the train back to Attari. Later, the Indian crew has moved the train from Wagah. Samjhauta Express comprises of six sleeper coaches and an AC 3-tier coach. The train service was started on July 22, 1976 under the Simla Agreement that settled the 1971 war between the two nations. Karad/ Satara/ Kolhapur (Maharashtra), Aug 09 (ANI): The flood situation in Kolhapur and Satara districts of Maharashtra remained critical. Truck drivers are stuck on road in Maharashtra's Karad since last four days due to flood situation in Kolhapur. Around 1000-2000 trucks are stuck since last 3-4 days due to flood situation. Meanwhile, the flood like situation is still prevailing in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Houses and vehicles are also submerged in Kolhapur district. Power supply has been cut in many parts of the district as transformers and feeder pillars were submerged. Teams from Indian Army, Navy, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Coast Guard along with the local authorities continued extensive relief efforts.
Wayanad (Kerala), Aug 09 (ANI): A massive landslide occurred in Kerala's Wayanad on August 08, 2019. The incident took place in Puthumala village of Wayanad. Operations suspended at the Cochin International Airport till August 11, 2019 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, the incessant rains led to flood-situation in Kerala's Nilambur. The entire area is inundated with hundreds of houses and shops being submerged. As per the information of Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KDSMA), around 22,165 people have been evacuated to safe places and lodged in 315 camps across the state. Kerala Government has also declared holiday for the day, for all schools across the state. The rescue operations are still underway. More details are awaited in this regard.
Srikakulam (AP), Aug 09 (ANI): Animal statues erected along the sea coast here washed away in heavy rains on 08 Aug 2019. Vamsadhara and Nagavali Rivers in the Srikakulam district are overflowing due to heavy rains in their catchment areas located in Odisha. In Vamsadhara River, almost 1 lakh cusecs of water has been released into the sea. Due to this, Kalingapatnam town on the banks of the Bay of Bengal received huge floodwaters.
New Delhi, Aug 09 (ANI): Despite all the nation-wide protests by doctors and students, 'National Medical Commission Bill' got approval from both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha and has now become 'National Medical Commission Act 2019'. Union Minister of Health, Harsh Vardhan addressed mediapersons and cleared one of the major 'misconceptions' of 'quacks' in the NMC Act. He said, "A misconception is being spread that the provision for community health providers has been made to legalize quacks. On the contrary, punishment for quackery has been enhanced to upto 1 year imprisonment and upto Rs 5 lakh fine."
New Delhi, Aug 09 (ANI): Nipender Singh, a relative of Unnao rape accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar demanded polygraph and narco-analysis tests of him to know about the truth. "Kuldeep Singh Sengar is innocent. We have seen his attitude. If he has done something wrong, then scientific evidence should be collected. Polygraph test should be conducted. The victim reported about the incident after five months. So, the DNA test cannot be conducted now. Only the polygraph or narco test can be conducted now. We should come to a judgment after examining the evidence," Nipender told ANI. Nipender also said that the investigation should be fair and scientific.

Air coolers and fans installed at animal shelters in the park. The step brought relief to the animals. One of the zoo officials said, "We've installed air coolers and fans at all the animal shelters, whenever there is an increase in heat we switch them on to bring relief to animals."

Hyderabad, Aug 08 (ANI): Telangana BJP will request Union Home Minister Amit Shah to declare September 17 as Hyderabad Liberation Day, so that it can be celebrated officially, said the party's state unit chief on Thursday. On September 17, 1948, the Nizam of Hyderabad had announced a ceasefire and the surrender of his troops, paving way for annexation of Hyderabad in Indian Union. "In Telangana, the liberation of Hyderabad was not celebrated officially by the government due to AIMIM Party pressure. We are going to appeal Amit Shah to see that September 17 be declared as liberation day," said Dr K Laxman. "We also want 17 September should officially be declared as liberation day by the TRS government also," he added.
