Stubble burning's contribution in Delhi's air pollution keeps changing: CPCB

New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Chairperson, Shiv Das Meena said that contribution of stubble burning in air pollution of Delhi, dependent on meteorological and other factors. "Six percent contribution was from stubble burning, yesterday (in the pollution of Delhi). The information we get from IMD (India Meteorological Department) via SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research) portal varies dependent on meteorological and other factors," said Shiv Das Meena. CPCB had deployed 50 teams for extensive field visits from October 15 to ensure strict vigilance as pollution levels mount in Delhi and adjoining areas. "The teams will monitor vigil against pollution and will continue till February 28 next year. Teams will focus on hotspot areas where the problem gets aggravated and will directly report on SAMEER app and also coordinate it with agencies. Jaipur (Rajasthan) October 16 (ANI): On the occasion of 'Global Handwashing Day', Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has called upon all the citizens of the state to dedicate themselves in the fight against Corona. He said that this battle can be won only with the coordinated efforts and cooperation of all the officers, employees, contract workers etc. as well as the common people of Rajasthan. CM Gehlot said that the message of Global Handwashing Day is that people wash their hands with soap at critical times. Health protocols issued by health experts to prevent corona have emphasized the use of masks and physical distance as well as frequent hand washing. Meteorological conditions unfavourable in Delhi for dispersion of pollutants: CPCB

New Delhi, Oct 16 (ANI): The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on October 16 stated that meteorological conditions in Delhi have been "extremely unfavourable" for dispersion of pollutants since this September as compared to last year."PM2.5 and PM10 concentration between September and October this year has been more as compared to the corresponding period last year," Prashant Gargava said. "In winters, the ventilation index, a combination of horizontal wind dispersion and heat dissipation of pollutants, is very less in landlocked areas like Delhi. This leads to a higher rate of pollution," Prashant Gargava added.

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): Delhi's air quality is taking a hit, as it reached 'very poor' levels on October 15. Thick blanket of smog enveloped Delhi-NCR. Ram Leela rehearsal begins in Lucknow, artists to follow COVID guidelines

YouTube to remove videos with COVID-19 vaccine misinformation

New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): Video sharing platform YouTube announced on Wednesday that it will remove videos containing COVID-19 vaccine misinformation. According to The Verge, YouTube announced that the content about a vaccine that contradicts information from health experts or the World Health Organisation won't be permitted. Farshad Shadloo, a YouTube spokesman, said in an email, "A COVID-19 vaccine may be imminent, therefore we're ensuring we have the right policies in place to be able to remove misinformation related to a COVID-19 vaccine." That could include false claims that vaccines implant microchips in people's bodies, for example, or that they cause infertility. Both rumors are untrue. The new guidelines are an expansion of YouTube's existing COVID-19 Medical Misinformation Policy, which doesn't allow videos that falsely suggest the coronavirus doesn't exist, that discourage mainstream medical care for the disease, or that say the virus is not contagious. 'Our children also breathing this air': Farmers in Amritsar 'helpless' over stubble burning

Amritsar (Punjab), Oct 14 (ANI): Government is cheating farmers and playing politics over stubble, said a farmer after burning crop residue that includes stubble. The practice deteriorates air quality, every year and Punjab is once again at the epicenter of it. "Farmers are burning crop residue under compulsion. Our children are also breathing this air. If government gives us subsidy as per NGT (National Green Tribunal) provisions, then no farmer will burn stubble," a farmer in Amritsar added.Over the last few years, the national capital has been battling severe air pollution due to stubble burning incidents.

'Want to bring uniformity': Himanta Biswa Sarma on closure of Madrasas in Assam

Guwahati (Assam), Oct 14 (ANI): Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state-run madrasas will either be converted into regular schools or they will be shut down, after teachers are transferred to schools, following a notification which will be released in November this year. "All State-run madrassas will be converted into regular schools or in certain cases teachers will be transferred to state-run schools and madrassas will be shut down. A notification will be released in November," Sarma told reporters here. "In my opinion, teaching 'Quran' cannot happen at the cost of government money, if we have to do so then we should also teach both the Bible and Bhagavad Gita. We want to bring uniformity and stop this practice," he added.

Incessant rainfall in Hyderabad kills 15, situation severe

Hyderabad (Telangana), Oct 14 (ANI): Continuous downpour in several parts of Hyderabad led to flood situation in the Telangana capital. Situation is such that car were seen floating in a residential area in New Bowenpally, and many vehicles were seen washed away. Farooq, Omar Abdullah meet Mehbooba Mufti after she released from detention

Srinagar (J-K), Oct 14 (ANI): National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and party's vice president Omar Abdullah met People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti at her residence on October 14. She was released from detention on October 13. "Mehbooba Mufti was released yesterday after more than 14.5 months of detention. There was no political motive, we just came to see her," Omar Abdullah told media persons. Mufti and many other leaders of Kashmir, including Farooq Abdullah, were put in detention last year before the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that accorded special status to the erstwhile state.
