Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), May 18 (ANI): Curfew will extend in Himachal Pradesh till 31st May due to coronavirus pandemic. Chief Minister of the state, Jairam Thakur said, "The cases of coronavirus are growing rapidly in the whole country. Even, the cases have increased in Himachal Pradesh too. Lockdown 4.0 will start from tomorrow (18th May), we have decided that we will continue the curfew imposed in Himachal Pradesh till 31st May."
Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh), May 18 (ANI): Special Shramik train carrying North eastern migrant workers started from Andhra Pradesh to Manipur. The train will cover longest distance of almost 2700 kms and almost 1550 passengers will reach their native places. Krishna District Collector A.Md. Imtiaz and Andhra Pradesh DGP DG Sawang flagged off the train. Shramik trains have been running for migrant workers to reach their native places amid COVID-19 lockdown.

Sagar Island (West Bengal), May 17 (ANI): National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on May 17 made preparations in West Bengal's Sagar Island as cyclone Amphan has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm. The NDRF team is also doing awareness campaign for the public about the cyclone in the deployed area. The team equipped itself with cutting equipment of concrete, wood and iron. Each team is having boat with deep diving sets. According to the MeT department, Cyclone Amphan that has been circling over the Bay of Bengal for the last two days and will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm raising the possibility of heavy rainfall coupled with high velocity winds in several coastal districts of Odisha and parts of Gangetic West Bengal.
Ananthapuramu (Andhra Pradesh), May 17 (ANI): The dead body of a leopard was found at Kambadur village in Ananthapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh. Local people informed the forest department officials, who in turn recovered the body of leopard. According to the Ananthapuramu's District Forest Officer, Jagannath Singh, told ANI that the animal died 2 or 3 days ago. Body has been sent for post mortem and cause of death will be known after PM report only. However, the officer also confirmed that, it is not the case of murder or poacher's handiwork. It is a natural death, cause of which is yet to be ascertained, he said.

New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): In the wake of rising cases of coronavirus, nationwide lockdown extended till May 31. Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued new guidelines for lockdown 4.0. According to new guidelines, all cinema halls, shopping malls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places, shall continue to remain closed throughout the country till 31st May. He said, "Till yesterday, 15 lakh people had come in UP, more than 1.5 lakh people have come in UP in one day, in total, more than 16.5 lakh people have come to the state so far." Bahaj (Rajasthan), May 17 (ANI): As many as 135 buses, arranged by Congress to ferry migrant workers from Alwar in Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh, are stranded at the Bahaj inter-state border as UP government didn't give permission to enter the state. On this, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra requested UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to allow the buses so that the migrants can go home. On May 16, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arranged 500 buses from several districts of Rajasthan to take migrant workers of Uttar Pradesh to their home towns.

Jammu, May 17 (ANI): The security forces neutralized terrorist Tahir Ahmad Bhat in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda on May 17. Bhat was controlling terror activities in the area after the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Haroon. Haroon was killed by security forces in January 2020. "Last night, we got information about presence of terrorist Tahir Ahmad Bhat in Khotra village of Doda. We were on lookout for this terrorist since January 2020 when we killed Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist Haroon. After Haroon, Bhat was controlling terror activities here," said the Inspector General of Police of Jammu, Mukesh Singh while addressing the press conference.

"In the next 12 hours, Cyclone 'Amphan' is likely to intensify. Fishermen advised not to venture into sea and return to coast till night. From tomorrow no fishermen will be allowed," said Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director, HR Biswas. Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur after 24 hours in the coast area.

Stranded Afghan nationals included cadets at the National Defence Academy (NDA). A special flight was arranged by Afghan government to take their citizens back home.
