Pregnant woman allegedly denied entry into Bharatpur hospital citing her religion

Bharatpur (Rajasthan), Apr 05 (ANI): A pregnant woman was allegedly denied admission into a hospital in Rajasthan's Bharatpur on April 04. She was denied entry in Janana Hospital citing her religion. While speaking to ANI, the Principal of Janana Hospital in Bharatpur, Dr Rupendra Jha said, "I will able to say something once the investigation is done." Speaking to media, pregnant woman's husband said, "Hospital staff referred us to a hospital in Jaipur as we are Muslims. We didn't even cross Bharatpur, she delivered the child on the way and the baby died."

Newspaper sale falls drastically amid coronavirus lockdown

New Delhi, Apr 05 (ANI): The sale and distribution of newspaper have gone drastically down in the national capital amid COVID-19 outbreak. Distributers and newspaper hawkers are facing several difficulties as various shops are closed in the city amid lockdown in India. Several people are not buying newspapers with a fear that it will spread the disease further. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic which will continue till April 14. There are total 466 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Delhi including six death and 15 cured. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 2784 in India and 75 deaths.

Mumbaikars violate social distancing norm at vegetable market

Mumbai, Apr 05 (ANI): Heavy crowd was seen at a vegetable market in Mumbai on April 05 amid nationwide lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. Locals were seen buying essential commodities at a vegetable market in Mumbai's Byculla area. Mumbaikars were seen violating norms of social distancing while purchasing vegetables and fruits. There are total 556 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maharashtra including 24 deaths and 42 cured. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 active cases rose to 2784 in India and 75 deaths.

COVID19: IIT Kanpur to manufacture cost- efficient antiviral coating masks

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Apr 05 (ANI): Several researches are going on to curb coronavirus pandemic, which have killed 56, 985 people globally so far. Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has also joined the fight against the coronavirus. Researchers are working on cost- efficient special antiviral coating masks, which may replace N95 masks whose price shoot upto Rs 500 in recent days. Researcher at IIT Kanpur, Professor Ramkumar said, "We developed an alternative material for N95 masks, and we are making it manually as we don't have access to automatic machines due to nationwide lockdown. By next 2-3 days, we will start manufacturing of the masks." The N95 masks filters at least 95 percent of airborne particles. It is said that healthcare workers who are expected to perform patient activities with those suspected or confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 to wear respiratory protection, such as an N95 respirator. Punjab cops help woman deliver baby on roadside after hospitals deny entry

Moga (Punjab), Apr 05 (ANI): Two policemen on night patrolling duty helped a woman deliver her baby on the roadside in Dharamkot after three hospitals refused to open their doors for her. Harmanbir Singh Gill, SSP said, "Seeing the lady in pain ASI Bikkar Singh and constable Sukhjinder Singh Singh arranged for wooden benches and called some women from the neighborhood. With all these efforts the woman gave birth to a boy. They will be given award for this act of humanity."

62-yr-old invents automatic sanitisation machine in Mandsaur

Skype introduces 'Meet Now' for signup-free video calls

New Delhi, Apr 05 (ANI): As video conferencing becomes popular in the times of social distancing, Skype introduced a new feature that allows one to make calls without having to sign up or download. Called Meet Now, the feature lets you set up a collaboration space and invite Skype as well as non-Skype contacts for video calls. As the official website explains, you can start a meeting by generating the unique link and sharing it with others to begin a video or audio call. For non-Skype members who do not have the app installed on their device, the meeting will open in the Skype for the Web client. Users can choose to record calls which will be available for later review for up to 30 days.

Kerala to start rapid test for coronavirus from tomorrow, says state Health Minister

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Apr 04 (ANI): Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja informed that 9 labs are conducting polymerase chain reaction tests in Kerala, and the state government will start rapid test from tomorrow. "9 labs are conducting polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests in Kerala. We've received 2000 rapid test kits and will start rapid tests from tomorrow. If a person tests positive in rapid test, we need to confirm it with PCR test. Even if a person is found negative for #COVID19 in rapid test, they need to complete the 14 days mandatory quarantine period. There are 295 cases in Kerala out of which 251 cases are active," said Shailaja on the preparedness to battle COVID-19 pandemic.

42% corona cases fall in 21-40 age group, 17% patients above 60 years: Health Ministry

New Delhi, Apr 04 (ANI): Health Ministry informed that 42% patients of coronavirus belong to 21-40 years of age group, while 33% cases pertain to patients between 41-60 years age. "Nine per cent COVID-19 patients belong to 0-20 years age, 42 per cent patients belong to 21-40 years age, 33 per cent cases pertain to patients between 41-60 years age, and 17 per cent patients have crossed 60 years age," said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry.

30% of all coronavirus cases linked to Delhi Jamaat event, 17 states affected: Govt

New Delhi, Apr 04(ANI): The Health Ministry on April 04 informed that out of the total cases in the country, 1023 COVID-19 positive cases from 17 states have been found directly linked to the Tableeghi Jammat event held in Delhi last month. Kerala academician starts online creative writing course amid corona lockdown
