Govt invites interested bidders for strategic disinvestment of Air India: Hardeep Puri

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on January 27 informed that the newly constituted Air India mechanism, headed by Home Minister, has approved to invite expression of interest from the interested bidders for a strategic disinvestment of Air India. Hardeep Singh Puri said, "Due to its accumulated debt of around Rs 60,000 crores, the financial position could be described as very fragile and Air India can only be described as being under a debt trap." "Employees dues with arrears will be paid by the Air India assets holding company before the closing of the proposed transaction," Hardeep Singh Puri further added in a press conference.

HM Amit Shah signs agreement with banned Bodo group

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah signed tripartite agreement with representatives of all the factions of banned organisation National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) at Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was also present during the event. Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Centre, Assam government and Bodo representatives have signed an important agreement. This agreement will ensure a golden future for Assam and for the Bodo people." "1550 cadres along with 130 weapons will surrender on January 30," Amit Shah further added on agreement with National Democratic Front of Bodoland factions.

He said, "When governments don't have money this is what they do. Govt of India has no money, growth is less than 5% and millions of rupees outstanding under MNREGA. This is what they will do, sell all the valuable assets we have."

Indian flag used as cover for people who want to divide country in Shaheen Bagh: RS Prasad

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): While addressing a press conference in national capital, Union Minister of Law and Justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday said that in Shaheen Bagh the Indian flag is being used as a cover for the people who want to divide the country. Adding to it, he said that it is being backed by tukde-tukde gang. He said, "Shaheen Bagh is not an area anymore, it is an idea, where the Indian flag is being used as a cover for the people who want to divide the country, it is being supported by tukde-tukde gang." Protesters are protesting at Shaheen Bagh for over a month against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and proposed National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Suspected case of Coronavirus reported in Bihar

Patna (Bihar), Jan 27 (ANI): A suspected case of Coronavirus has been reported in Bihar. Speaking on it, Superintendent of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Vimal Karak said, "A girl from Chapra recently returned from China. Here, in Bihar, people got panicked and admitted her to ICU of a hospital in Chapra after she showed symptoms similar to that of Coronavirus. Civil surgeon is taking care of her. We will send the sample from here to Pune and then only, we'll be able to confirm the situation." On being asked if civil surgeon can confirm it, he said, "How can civil surgeon tell? He observed the symptoms and suspected that it might be case of Coronavirus." He further said, "We made an isolation ward for her." The girl is on the way to Patna, she'll be admitted at PMCH at isolation ward.

She brought to hospital after she showed symptoms similar to Coronavirus. Ekta is accompanied by her father. CAA cannot be implemented as it is against basic structure of Indian Constitution: Yashwant Sinha

Lucknow (UP), Jan 27 (ANI): Former union minister during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government Yashwant Sinha denounced Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and asserted that it cannot be implemented as it is against the basic structure of Indian Constitution. "Citizenship Amendment Act is against the basic structure of Constitution. There was no need for this kind of an amendment in Citizenship law as GoI has the power to grant citizenship to anyone. This law cannot be implemented," said former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha during a press conference.

He said, "The government has passed the resolution, has taken the decision to abolish the legislative council. This is not a government, it is YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He has taken the decision to abolish the assembly. He has given an indication on January 17 that there may be three capitals in the state. Similarly, cabinet ministers and the government's legal advisor have given the indication that the cabinet is going to pass a resolution to abolish the legislative council. It shows that one man is only controlling the entire system. There is no point of taking decision in democratic constitutional manner. It shows there are no constitutional values and no respect for any constitutional bodies."

At least 20 students injured after school van meets with accident in Madurai

Equities slide as China virus fears intensify, metal and banking stocks plunge

New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices slipped during early hours on Monday as investors globally were increasingly anxious about the economic impact of China's new coronavirus. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was down by 113 points to 41,500 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 48 points at 12,200. Most sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the negative terrain with Nifty metal dipping by 2.23 per cent and PSU bank by 0.91 per cent.
