Fadnavis' resignation, a slap on faces of masters sitting in Delhi: KC Venugopal

New Delhi, Nov 26 (ANI): In a major political twist, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and NCP leader Ajit Pawar resigned from Maharashtra Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister posts. Speaking on it, Congress leader KC Venugopal said, "This is a victory of constitutional democracy. They thought through horse trading they can make Government. This is not only a failure of Devendra Fadnavis but also a slap on faces of their masters sitting in Delhi." He further said, "Today evening, there will be joint press conference of the three (Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP) parties and a meeting. In the meeting, leader of joint legislative party will be elected, I think Uddhav ji will be elected."

Devendra Fadnavis submits his resignation as Maharashtra CM

Mumbai, Nov 26 (ANI): Devendra Fadnavis submitted his resignation as Maharashtra Chief Minister to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on November 26. While addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Fadnavis said, "We had decided that we will never indulge in horse trading, that we will never try to break away any MLA. Those who said that we indulge in horse trading bought the entire horse stable." Earlier today, Ajit Pawar also resigned as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra a day ahead of Floor test as ordered by the Supreme Court.

Indices wipe out early gains to close in the red, Zee Entertainment drops by 7.3 pc

New Delhi, Nov 26 (ANI): Equity indices lost hold on early gains amid profit booking and ended lower on Tuesday after hitting a record high in the morning session. The BSE S-P Sensex closed 68 points lower at 40,821while the Nifty 50 slipped by 36 points to 12,038. Most sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the red with Nifty media falling by 3.6 per cent and IT by 1.2 per cent. Among stocks, Zee Entertainment Enterprises dropped by 7.34 per cent to close the day at Rs 318.55 per share, a day after the resignation of key managerial persons including Chairman Subhash Chandra. Bharti Infratel dropped by 6.5 per cent and Bharti Airtel by 4 per cent after reports emerged that the committee of secretaries that was to discuss floor price with the telecom regulator has been disbanded. ICRA downgrades Bharti Airtel's long-term rating to AA-minus

New Delhi, Nov 26 (ANI): Investment information company ICRA has downgraded Bharti Airtel Ltd's long-term rating from AA to AA-minus due to recognition of higher-than-anticipated provision after the Supreme Court judgment on dues payable towards license fees on adjusted gross revenues (AGR) and spectrum usage charge in the second fiscal quarter results. It said the ratings continue to remain under watch with negative implications. Separately, it also reaffirmed Bharti Airtel's commercial paper worth Rs 15,000 crore at A1-plus. As an interim relief, the government has announced deferment of auction installments for 2020-21 and 2021-22 which is expected to provide cash flow easing to the tune of Rs 5,500 crore per year for the next two years. However, ICRA said the debt on the company's books has remained elevated as reflected by gross debt of Rs 1,36,579 crore as on September 30, which has kept the debt coverage indicators under stress. Taking every measure to counter IED threats: CRPF IG

Srinagar, Nov 26 (ANI): CRPF Inspector General Ravideep Singh Sahi on November 26 reacted on improvised explosive device (IED) blast threat in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the security forces are aware of it and they are taking every measure to counter the IED threats. "We are aware of these threat and we have taken all the counter measures which are required to counter these threat," said Shahi. Earlier in the day, two people were injured in a grenade blast near Kashmir University gate in Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon. Investigation is underway.

Two terrorists killed in fire exchange in J-K's Pulwama

Pulwama (J-K), Nov 26 (ANI): Two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces at Tachwara village in Pulwama. The encounter happened on Nov 25. One terrorist was killed on Nov 25, while the other was killed on Nov 26. The terrorists have been identified as Irfan Ahmed and Irfan Sheikh, police said.
