Cop shot dead his son in Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 25 (ANI): A head constable has shot dead his son in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur on October 24. The incident took place at the Chauri-Chaura police station in Gorakhpur. While speaking to ANI, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Gorakhpur Sumit Shukla said, "He had an altercation with his son during which a shot was fired and his son died on the spot." "Perpetrator was apprehended and his licensed weapon has been seized," DSP added.

JP Nadda meets Amit Shah as Haryana gets hung assembly

New Delhi, Oct 25 (ANI): National Working President of Bharatiya Janata Party Jagat Prakash Nadda on October 25 met party president Amit Shah at his residence after meeting Haryana leaders. Low-salt diet can stave off dementia: Study

New Delhi, Oct 25 (ANI): A recent study suggests that consuming low salt diet and maintaining healthy blood vessels in the brain may keep away dementia. The new study builds upon research published last year in 'Nature Neuroscience' by Dr. Faraco and senior author Dr. Costantino Iadecola, director of the Feil Family Brain and Mind Research Institute and the Anne Parrish Titzell Professor of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine. The 2018 study found that a high-salt diet caused dementia in mice. The rodents became unable to complete daily living tasks such as building their nests and had problems passing memory tests. The research team determined that the high-salt diet was causing cells in the small intestine to release the molecule interleukin-17 (IL-17), which promotes inflammation as part of the body's immune response. IL-17 then entered the bloodstream and prevented the cells in the walls of blood vessels feeding the brain from producing nitric oxide. This compound works by relaxing

Twitter says it removes more than half of abusive tweets before they are flagged

New Delhi, Oct 25 (ANI): Despite reporting systems in place, Twitter said that it is more proactive in removing harmful content even before someone puts in a complaint. Twitter said that it now removes more than 50 per cent of all abusive tweets before users report them, The Verge reports. Twitter, which uses automated moderation tools that leverage machine learning for faster identification and moderation, said automated flagging has grown from 43 per cent of all abusive tweets last quarter.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar chairs meeting on water-logging issue in Patna

Patna (Bihar), Oct 25 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a meeting with elected representatives from Patna on the water-logging issue here on Thursday. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi and Union Minister Ravi Shakar Prasad were also present at the meeting. Taking to Twitter, Prasad stated that the meeting was held today to discuss the damage caused by water-logging here. Locals, forest officials join hands to rescue jumbo from well

Sundargarh (Odisha), Bhopal (MP): An adult tusker which had fallen into a well was rescued by the forest officials and fire service personnel with the help of locals in Odisha's Sundergarh. It took about two hours to rescue the tusker. The fire service personnel used their long ropes and managed to pull the jumbo out.

India, Pakistan sign agreement to operationalise Kartarpur corridor

Zero Point, Oct 24 (ANI): India and Pakistan sign an agreement to operationalise the Kartarpur corridor, at Zero Point. Earlier, the agreement was scheduled to be signed on October 22, but could not take place. The corridor will facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims, who will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib, which was established in 1522 by Sikh Guru Nanak Dev.
