PMC Bank scam: Depositors stage protest near RBI headquarters

Car falls into canal in Telangana's Suryapet, rescue operation underway

Amitabh Bachchan discharged from hospital

Mumbai, Oct 19 (ANI): Bollywood mega star, Amitabh Bachchan discharged from a hospital in Mumbai on Oct 18 after being admitted here following routine check-ups. The 77-year-old actor had gone for a routine check-up at the hospital after experiencing some health issues on Wednesday. He, however, remained in the hospital for two days before being discharged on late Friday. Big B left hospital with wife Jaya Bachchan and son Abhishek.

Air quality remains 'poor' in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 19 (ANI): The air quality of the national capital continued to be in 'poor' category. A hazy morning was witnessed near Parliament House. According to Air Quality Index (AQI), major pollutants PM 2.5 was at 215 and PM 10 was at 221 on October 19. Earlier, CM Arvind Kejriwal had requested state governments to take measures as air quality is deteriorating day by day.

New Delhi, Oct 19 (ANI): Indian Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat flagged off the "The Ultimate Run", an event to honor the next of kin and disabled soldiers, organised by the Indian Army. Speaking on FATF's warning to Pakistan to swiftly move its action by 2020, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said, "There is pressure on them. They have to take action. We would like them to work towards restoring peace. To be on such a 'Grey List' is a setback for any nation." Financial Action Task Force (FATF) warned Pakistan to swiftly move its action by 2020. FATF also warned Pak of 'blacklisting', if they failed to do so. As per FATF report, "There was consensus on retaining Pakistan in 'grey list' based on its poor performance on 27-point action plan."

IndiGo inaugurates flights from Kolkata to Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam), Oct 19 (ANI): India's largest passenger carrier IndiGo on Friday commenced direct daily operations between Kolkata and Ho Chi Minh City, the commercial capital of Vietnam. While speaking to ANI, IndiGo's Associate Director, Arvind Bhandari said, "We are launching our second flight to Vietnam. Our first flight response was fantastic and today we are connecting to the second city of Vietnam. We are happy about it." At present, the airline is on a massive international expansion plan. It has already launched 4 flights in the last 5 weeks to Myanmar, China, Vietnam and Kuwait. Currently, it flies to 60 domestic and 23 international routes.

Radio service started for inmates at Hamirpur District Jail

Hamirpur (UP), Oct 19 (ANI): In a first, Hamirpur District Jail authority has started radio service for inmates to promote a positive feeling among all those serving sentence for different crimes. "In morning 'bhajans' are played and in afternoon songs as per inmates' choice are played. Useful information is broadcasted in the evening." Vinay Prakash Tiwari, Jail Superintendent told ANI.

Hindu Samaj leader's body brought to his native village amid tight security

Sitapur/Lucknow (UP), Oct 19 (ANI): Body of Hindu Samaj Party chief Kamlesh Tiwari, who was killed on Friday (October 18) was taken brought to his native place Mahmudabad in Sitapur from the mortuary after Post-Mortem Examination (PME) amid tight security. Tiwari was killed at Naka area of Lucknow on Friday. He was the former leader of Hindu Mahasabha and had founded the Hindu Samaj Party. After being attacked, Tiwari was immediately taken to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries. The assailants managed to flee from the spot. A revolver was also recovered from the site of the crime. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to investigate Tiwari's murder. Earlier on Friday, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police OP Singh had said accused knew Tiwari as they spent around 30 minutes with him on the pretext of gifting him sweets. 41% milk samples of poor quality, 7 % samples unfit to consume: FSSAI survey

New Delhi, Oct 19 (ANI): In the first-ever survey on milk safety parameters, the top food regulator Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) discovered that about 41 percent samples fell short of some kind of safety parameters. Moreover, seven percent packaged milk samples contained serious health hazard. The milk survey was conducted from May 2018 to 2019, covering all States and Union Territories with the objective of monitoring the safety and quality of liquid milk in the country. About 6,432 Milk samples were taken from across the country for adulteration concern and analysis. Another issue is the presence of antibiotics in the milk. 1.2 per cent of milk samples had shown the indications of antibiotics, according to the survey. In total, seven per cent of the milk samples were found to be unsafe which contained serious health hazard.
