Mumbai (Maharashtra), Oct 02 (ANI): Car manufacturing giants Mahindra and Ford announced joint venture for India. The carmakers will co-develop vehicles and manage sales together. Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra announced the joint venture. Ford Chairman Bill Ford also addressed the gathering via video conferance. The new venture will be operational from 2020. The JV is expected to help the manufacturers to trap emerging markets including Middle East and ASEAN.
Sabarkantha (Gujarat), Oct 1 (ANI): A tornado-like cloud formation developed in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat. It was seen in Talod area of Sabarkantha district on September 30. It caused severe damage to farms in the area. No loss of life was reported.

Patna (Bihar), Oct 01 (ANI): Incessant rains are intensifying in Bihar have revealed vast scale of flooding in various parts of the state. The devastating floods have taken the lives of 40 people and nine have been injured. The water level is increasing day by day in many parts of the state with Patna being the most affected. Rescue operations by the Indian Air Force and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team are underway. The Indian Air Force is dropping relief material to the people stranded at their houses in the flood-affected areas. IMD has retained its red alert warning of heavy to heavy rainfall in Bihar in coming days.

Amritsar (Punjab), Oct 01 (ANI): Ahead of Gandhi Jayanti, an artist from Punjab's Amritsar has created oil painting of 'Bapu' (Mahatma Gandhi). Fondly remembered as the 'Father of the Nation', Mahatma Gandhi is known to have inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. The oil painting is 5 feet and 7 inches in size. Jagjot Singh Rubal took 10 days to create the masterpiece. While speaking to ANI, "On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, I have created this painting and I wish to dedicate it to him. It took 10 days for me to create this oil painting. The size of this painting is 5 feet 7 inches." "I want to gift this painting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi so that, he can put it inside the Gandhi ashram in Gujarat. Mahatma Gandhi is 'father of the nation' and because of him our country is quite well to do," the artist added. Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on October 2 is celebrated worldwide as the International Day of Nonviolence.

Patna (Bihar), Oct 01 (ANI): Several parts of Bihar including capital Patna are battling with heavy rain and flood. Boats are being used to rescue stranded residents in Patna's Rajendra Nagar area. NDRF personnel also rescued woman from flood-affected Rajendra Nagar area. While speaking to ANI, one of the NDRF personnel said, "Since yesterday, 6000-7000 people including the elderly and patients have been rescued from the area. We are now concentrating on distribution of relief materials." Heavy rain and flood threw normal life out of gear. Over 30 people have died due to the devastated floods in Bihar.
