UP farmers hold protest against Noida authority

Noida (UP), Sep 28 (ANI): Farmers from several villages took out a protest march against the Noida Authority. Hundreds of farmers protested against the anti-farmer policies of the authority. They are determined to go on an indefinite strike. Farmers have also complained of the Noida authority's move to demolish their constructions after declaring them illegal. Several farmer organisations of Noida and Greater Noida have come out in support of the protest march. "The farmers have taken out their protest march on several tractors which has caused a traffic jam. We have deployed our forces at the site of the demonstration," Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police, Noida said.

Fire safety for all is need of the hour, says Principal Secretary to PM

New Delhi, Sep 28 (ANI): Fire safety is a concern for everyone and that there is a need to strive towards fire safety for all, said Dr P K Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, here on Friday. "I am happy to see the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chose the theme of 'Fire Safety' for this year's Formation Day. At a time when the devastating forest fire in the Amazon attracted the world's attention, and the heart-rending Surat fire incident played havoc, fire safety is indeed a matter of concern," said Mishra, speaking at the 15th Foundation Day of the NDMA.

Uber adds new safety features to its app

New Delhi, Sep 28 (ANI): Uber announced a slew of new features to its cab-hailing app to ensure a safer ride for customers. The updated app now lets you choose to receive a four-digit PIN to verify your ride. Uber also said that it is working on new technology for a PIN-free verification using ultrasound waves, the official blog noted. Users can now also report a problem to Uber during a ride, instead of waiting for the trip to be over. A new option also lets one send a text message to emergency numbers with the cab details and location in supported regions. Uber has also improved the real-time ID check for its drivers as an additional layer of security. Bike lane alerts will be added by the end of October to tell riders when they are being dropped off near a bike lane.

GST refund: 90% of overdue as on Aug 23 have been cleared, says FM Sitharaman

"Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) is on track as per budget target. Government owes only Rs 20,000 crores dues that will be released by first week of October. Have asked all ministries and will ask Central Public Sector Enterprises tomorrow to prepare CAPEX plan for next four quarter," FM added.

NDMA, is an agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs whose primary purpose is to coordinate response to natural or man-made disasters and for capacity-building in disaster resiliency and crisis response.
