Sharad Pawar cancels plan to visit ED office, cites law and order situation

Mumbai, Sep 27 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar said that he will not visit the Enforcement Directorate office for now. In a letter just hours before Pawar's expected visit, the Enforcement Directorate wrote to him that "there is no need for him" to come. It also said if there was any requirement in future, "we will inform you". "I decided not to go in the interest of law and order," said NCP Chief Sharad Pawar. On Wednesday (September 25), he had said he would go to the probe agency himself to clarify his position as a "responsible citizen" before getting busy with next month's elections in the state.

Inter-state arms trafficking racket busted by Delhi Police

New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted an interstate gang involved in illicit arms trafficking and arrested two accused Jitendra and Raj Bahadur. During the investigation of various heinous cases, police has noted that criminals of Delhi-NCR are using illegal firearms that are frequently being supplied to them by the illegal arms traffickers. In order to check the supply of illegal fire arms in NCR, a special drive is being carried out by the Special Cell against illegal firearms traffickers. Specific information was received by Special Cell that both the accused will be coming in the evening near crematorium, Ghazipur Road, in a car for delivering the illicit weapons. In the evening, team of Special Cell spotted the alleged car and signaled it to stop but it fled away. SC directed govt to pay compensation to flat owners: Maradu Housing Protection Committee Chairman

Kochi (Kerala), Sep 27 (ANI): The Supreme Court on September 27 directed demolition of flats built on the coastal zone of Kochi's Maradu within 138 days and asked the Kerala government to pay Rs 25 lakh interim compensation to each flat owner within four weeks. While speaking to ANI, Chairman of Maradu Housing Protection Committee, Shamsudeen Karunagapally said, "We see some relief for the flat owners. Today, SC identified flat owners' rights and SC directed government to pay compensation to flat owners." "It is a good decision, but how to implement this decision, it's not very clear," he added. The top court also ordered setting up of a one-member committee of retired high court judge to oversee the demolition and assess total compensation. Court also fixed the matter for further hearing on October 25.

Babri Masjid demolition case: BJP's Kalyan Singh to appear before court

Lucknow (UP), Sep 27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kalyan Singh will appear before Special CBI Court in Lucknow in connection with Babri Masjid demolition case. Last week, the court had directed CBI to produce Singh on September 27. On September 9, Singh had rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after completing his term as the Governor of Rajasthan, a post which had accorded him immunity. Singh was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, when the 16th-century Babri Masjid was razed on December 6 in 1992. 2 years after Gorakhpur hospital tragedy, Dr Kafeel Khan gets clean chit

New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): A departmental inquiry has absolved pediatrician Dr Kafeel Khan of the charges of medical negligence, corruption and dereliction of duty on the day more than 60 children died at Gorakhpur's BRD Medical College due to oxygen shortage in August 2017. Inquiry Officer has admitted that 'Dr. Kafeel brought 500 oxygen cylinders in 54 hours. He hasn't committed any negligence. All the allegations levelled against him are irrelevant and without any substance.' The report comes two years after Khan was suspended from the hospital and spent nine months in jail for the charges that he has now been cleared of. The doctor, who is out on bail, continues to be suspended from the BRD Medical College. He has demanded a CBI probe into the tragedy.

Chandrayaan-2 may be hiding in shadows, says NASA after capturing landing site

New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on Friday released high-resolution images of the lunar region where Chandrayaan-2 lander, Vikram had attempted a soft landing earlier this month. The images were taken by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, however, owing to dusk the lander could not be located. The US space agency also issued a statement saying it is possible that the Vikram lander is hiding in a shadow. The US space agency also stated that another attempt to locate lander will be made in October when the lighting is favourable. Earlier this month, the Chandryaan-2 orbiter had also clicked a thermal image of Vikram Lander. The Lander Vikram was scheduled to make a soft-landing near the south pole of the moon on September 7. However, minutes before its scheduled soft-landing, the communication with Vikram Lander was lost. The Vikram Lander had successfully separated from Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter on September 2. 1 dead after fire breaks out at hospital in West Bengal
