Mob thrashes man over allegedly molesting girl

Meerut (UP), Aug 26 (ANI): A man was brutally thrashed by furious mob over molestation charges in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. The incident took place when the man allegedly molested a girl in a moving bus. When the bus stopped at a bus stop, victim girl told the incident to her family members, who later started thrashing the man. Police arrested the person and is investigating the matter. The video of thrashing went viral.

Cleaning work underway at 'ghats' in Varanasi

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 26 (ANI): The water level of river Ganga has decreased in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi bringing relief from floods. The cleaning work by several teams is underway at various 'ghats' of Varanasi. Earlier, Ganga River had swelled due to heavy rains and had burst into villages across several districts of Uttar Pradesh. Teams of NDRF, SDRF and flood unit carried out relief and rescue operations to combat with the situation.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 26 (ANI): While addressing the press conference in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on August 26, Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav said, "The whole country and state of Uttar Pradesh are going through a tough and sensitive phase. Farmer's suicides are increasing day after day everywhere. The law and order situation in UP is completely failed." "Cases of murder, dacoity, rape and fake encounters are also increasing in the state. Now, it seems that Uttar Pradesh has become 'Hatya Pradesh'," he added. Today, Samajwadi Party has also dissolved the Delhi unit of the party with immediate effect.

Late Arun Jaitley's ashes immersed in Ganga at Haridwar

Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Aug 26 (ANI): The ashes of former union finance minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley was immersed in Uttarakhand's Haridwar on August 26. His ashes were immersed in river Ganga by his son Rohan in the presence of several senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' were also present. He passed away in the national capital on August 24 at the age of 66. The veteran leader was cremated on afternoon of August 25 with full state honours in the presence of his family members and leaders from across the political spectrum at Delhi's Nigambodh Ghat.

What do I say on his knowledge? I'm doing my work with utmost devotion, I don't care about these allegations." Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik should be made BJP president for JandK. He said, "I think the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir should be made the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president for JandK because his behaviour as well as his statements is more like that of a BJP leader."

Newborn baby girl found in drain, saved by UP Police

Budaun (UP), Aug 26 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Police's dial 100 service saved life of a newborn in Budaun. Police saved the newborn baby girl from a drain, which was backside of a primary school in police line area. Locals informed the police after listening her crying. After treatment, the newborn was handed over to the child care.

Man found snake inside parcel in Odisha's Mayurbhanj

NH-5 blocked after heavy rainfall in HP's Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Aug 26 (ANI): National Highway-5 has been blocked in Badhal village of Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district due to heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall took place after cloud burst in the region. Several roads, houses and vehicles have been damaged. Encounter breaks out between police and criminals in UP's Baghpat

Village girl from J-K's Rajouri cracks AIIMS entrance

Rajouri (J-K), Aug 26 (ANI): In a major first, Irmm Shamim, a resident of Dhanore village in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) has cracked the entrance exam of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), despite living in an environment which is not conducive to studies. Shamim said she never thought of qualifying for the AIIMS exam, but was sure of getting good results of her hard work. Jharkhand woman allegedly tonsured on suspicion of having illicit relationship with nephew

Koderma (Jharkhand), Aug 26 (ANI): A woman in Dengodih village of Jharkhand's Koderma was allegedly stripped and her hair was chopped off on the decision of panchayat on suspicion of her having an illicit relationship with her nephew. The alleged incident took place a day after she filed a complaint against her 22-year-old nephew for taking advantage of her. While speaking to ANI, police official said, "A total of 11 accused have been identified in this case and a case has been registered against them. No person has been arrested so far. Investigation is underway."
