New Delhi, Aug 23 (ANI): Targeting the central government over the slow down economic situation of the country, Congress Leader, Kapil Sibal said, "We have been telling them the economy is in dire stage, actually bringing in the GST without understanding. The consequences are going to be of uniform rate but they put up the multiple rates which brought down the revenues that are to be collected through GST. Base may have increased but the revenues have come down. Industries are in trouble, private sector is crying and automobile sector is finished. Which sector is doing well in this country?"

'We have to shun jingoism,' says Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy

Gorakhpur (UP), Aug 23 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, CM Yogi Adityanath and industrialist NR Narayana Murthy attended the convocation ceremony of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur. Speaking at the event, Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy said, "Our government has to become more citizen-friendly and remove obstacles to entrepreneurs to create larger and larger number of jobs. Our economic policies have to be less populist and more based on expertise. We have to shun jingoism. While it's easy to drape ourselves in our national flag and shout 'Mera Bharat Mahan' or 'Jai Ho', it is difficult to practice values."

Officials set up health camp for Baiga tribals in Chhattisgarh's Kawardha

Kawardha (Chhattisgarh), Aug 23 (ANI): Health Department officials set up health camp for Baiga tribals living on mountains situated in jungle of Chhattisgarh's Kawardha district. 33 patients have been treated at the camp till now. While speaking to ANI, Collector of Kawardha District, Awanish Kumar Sharan said, "Village is based in such a terrain that villagers have no access to health services, so health camp was set up there by officials of Health Department to lend medical aid to villagers. We'll try to construct roads for the villagers."

US Envoy at UN meeting slams Pakistan, China for discriminating against religious freedom

New York, Aug 23 (ANI): United Nation met on safety of religious minorities' on August 23 slammed China and Pakistan for discrimination against religious minorities. US Envoy for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback said, "In Pakistan, religious minorities continue to suffer from prosecution either at hands of non-state elements or through discriminatory laws and practices. We remain deeply concerned about the Chinese government escalating widespread and undue restrictions on religious freedom in China. Hyderabad's 12-year-old prodigy develops smart dustbin after getting inspiration from 'Swachh Bharat Mission'

Hyderabad (Telangana), Aug 23 (ANI): A 12-year-old prodigy has developed a smart dustbin after getting inspired by the 'Swachh Bharat Mission' program in Hyderabad. While the 12-year-old Mohd Hasan himself is an eighth standard student, he takes classes for Civil, Mechanical and Electronic engineering students of Masters and Bachelor levels. While speaking to ANI, Mohd Hasan said, "One day I was watching the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign program and inspired by that I made a Smart Dustbin. Whenever the dustbin gets filled, the display outside will show and when the dustbin gets totally filled up then it will send a message to the Municipal Corporation to come and pick up the dustbin," Speaking more about the dustbin, Hasan added, "This dustbin has a Wi-Fi module, ultrasonic sensors, servo motor, an LCD, sensor and buzzer." Antibiotics may increase risk of colon cancer: Study

New Delhi, Aug 23 (ANI): Popping even a single course of antibiotics might increase, though slightly, the risk of developing colon cancer a new study suggests. The study was published in the journal 'Gut' highlighted the need for judicious use of this broad category of drugs, which are frequently improperly or overprescribed. "The primary message of this study is the importance of antibiotic stewardship: not treating common viral infections with antibiotics, using them for the shortest time period possible, and using targeted antibiotics rather than broad-spectrum ones," said study leader Cynthia L. Sears, Bloomberg Kimmel Professor of Cancer Immunotherapy at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. The researchers found that those who developed colon cancer were slightly more likely to have been exposed to antibiotics (71.3 per cent compared to 69.1 per cent). 'Public toilet' becomes home, source of livelihood for 65-year-old women in Madurai

Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Aug 23 (ANI): A 65-year-old lady has been living in a public toilet for past 19 years in Tamil Nadu's Madurai. Karuppayi has been living in a public toilet in Ramnad area of Madurai. She is earning her livelihood by cleaning the toilets and charging a meager amount from public for using it. While speaking to ANI, Karuppayi said, "I applied for senior citizen pension but didn't get it. I approached many officers in Collector's office but nothing materialised." "I don't have any other source of income. So, I live here in this public toilet. I earn Rs 70-80 per day. I have one daughter who never visits me," old lady added.

5,000 cylinders, 6,000 regulators recovered from rural LPG agency in UP's Balrampur

Balrampur (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 23 (ANI): Around 5,000 Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders and over 6,000 regulators were recovered from a rural LPG agency in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district on August 22. The incident took place in Pachperwa town of Balrampur district. Cylinders and regulators were hidden in bushes, godowns and other places of the gas agency. Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh inspects relief operations in flood-affected areas

Shahkot (Punjab), Aug 22 (ANI): Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh inspected rescue operations in flood-affected area in Punjab's Shahkot. He announced that government would canalise all the rivers of the state, taking technical support from World Bank (WB) and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
