Shannon (Ireland), Jan 21 (ANI): United States Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday criticised Senators who caused the shutdown of government by blocking an important bill at Shannon Airport in Ireland. U.S. Vice President Mike Pence was critical of Senators across the political divide who voted to block a bill to extend government funding through Feb. 16., causing it to shut down at midnight the day before. Speaking during a stop to refuel Air Force Two at the airport, the U.S. Vice President said that he and U.S. President Donald Trump are convinced that in a few weeks, a deal to resolve the issues related to the budget will be reached. Manchester (UK), Jan 20 (ANI): The World Baloch Organisation, on Saturday, successfully relaunched its #FreeBalochistan human rights campaign on black cabs in the United Kingdom. The iconic black cabs are out once again carrying slogans "Free Balochistan from Human Rights Abuses" in attempt to highlight the worsening human rights situation in Balochistan, where the Pakistani military has been involved in gross human rights violations including enforced disappearances, extra-judicial killings and torture. Syria/Turkey, Jan 20 (ANI): Turkish artillery fired into Syria's Afrin region on Friday in what Ankara said was the start of a military campaign against the Kurdish-controlled area. Defense minister stated that the cross border firing marks the start of an operation against the Kurdish controlled Afrin region. Turkey sees the area as a threat that shows growing Kurdish strength across a wide stretch of north Syria. The Syrian Kurdish YPG militia reported a bombardment that began around midnight. They say Turkish forces fired around 70 shells at Kurdish villages. Turkey dispatched its military chief to Syria's main ally Moscow in an attempt to get the green light for an air campaign on the territory.
At Sea, Jan 20 (ANI): An Iranian oil tanker that sank in flames off the east coast of China is thought to be leaking heavy bunker fuel, raising fears of an environmental disaster. Heavy oil is used in ships' engines, and is difficult to remove from the sea. The cargo of lighter oil may also be leaking, with slicks spotted exceeding some 77 square miles. The Iranian tanker had been adrift and ablaze after crashing into a freight ship on January sixth. The crew of 30 Iranians and two Bangladeshis are believed to have been killed. It's not immediately clear where any oil could wash up, or the extent of damage it could cause. Experts say that to avoid further damage, the best option now is to salvage the ship. Noting that the process will present "huge risks and difficulties" - and that the remaining light oil could catch fire again.
Birgunj (Nepal), Jan 19 (ANI): A large number of people, including children, participated in a day-long yoga camp held in Nepal's Birgunj town. The event was organised by the Consulate General of India, Birgunj, to spread health awareness and benefits of yoga. Consul General of India B C Pradhan also attended the event. Birgunj (Nepal), Jan 19 (ANI): Tensions ran high in parts of Nepal; as Protests ensued in Birgunj on Thursday following the government's decision of declaring Janakpur as the temporary capital of Province no 2. Locals staged a general strike and took to streets to protest against the government's decision. Numerous visuals surfaced showing locals burning tyres. They have been demanding for Birgunj to be declared as the provincial capital.Demonstrations have impacted the normal life as the traffic remained stuck during the protest. Auckland (New Zealand), Jan 19 (ANI): New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, on Friday, announced that she is pregnant with her first child, and plans to take a short break after the birth in June. Ardern said she learnt that she was expecting just days before she took office. Ardern plans to take a six-week break, during which time Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters will step in. Her pregnancy is one of the very few examples of an elected leader holding office while pregnant. Ardern was only sworn into office in October after a closely-fought election. Washington, Jan 19 (ANI): US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said United States have made points and concerns to the Pakistani Government regarding Hafiz Saeed, that he should be prosecuted. "We regard him as a terrorist, he was the mastermind of 2008 Mumbai Attacks", said Nauert. Saeed was released from house arrest recently after a Pakistani court cited lack of evidence against him in the 26/11 Mumbai attack case. India has, time and again, protested against Pakistan for harbouring Saeed, who is wanted for plotting the Mumbai attacks.

Iquique (Chile), Jan 19 (ANI): Pope Francis ordered his convoy to stop and went to the aid of a police officer who was thrown off his horse as the popemobile passed in Chile's Iquique. The incident took place during the papal parade. The papal convoy was immediately stopped and Pope Francis walked toward the police officer, who was lying on the ground. An ambulance arrived on the scene and took the police officer away and Pope Francis resumed his tour. Pope Francis heads to Peru after he finishes his visit to the northern Chilean city of Iquique.

Tripoli (Libya), Jan 18 (ANI): Libya's coastguard said that it has rescued 240 African migrants attempting to make the dangerous trek across the Mediterranean to mainland Europe, bringing them back to Tripoli. The rescues of Libyan boats were made for three consecutive days. The development amounts to just under a thousand migrants in the last week. When combined with European Union and Italian vessels, and NGO rescue ships, it brings the total number to about 2,400 over the same period. (U.S.), Jan 18 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Thursday accused Russia of helping North Korea evade economic sanctions by filling in gaps left as China has withdrawn its aid. Asserting that Russia is helping North Korea get supplies in violation of the international sanctions, Trump added that Pyongyang is getting closer every day to being able to deliver a long-range missile to the United States. But U.S. President praised the actions of Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying Beijing is 'doing a lot' to help rein in Pyongyang, but also saying China could do more. President Trump said North Korea is getting closer every day to being able to send a missile to strike the United States, adding that the U.S. needs to add to its missile defense systems. Sann (Sindh), Jan 18 (ANI): Paying tribute to scholar ideologue, and founder of Sindhudesh Movement Ghulam Murtaza Shah Syed, also known as G. M. Michigan (United States), Jan 18 (ANI): Thomas Brennan, a coach who sent dozens of young girls for treatment to USA Gymnastics team former doctor Larry Nassar, erupted in anger during the child molester's sentencing hearing and said him to 'go to hell' for his crimes. Thomas Brennan, a youth gymnastics coach, confronted Nassar in a Michigan courtroom on the second day of a sentencing hearing for the former doctor, who pleaded guilty in November to multiple counts of sexual assault. Brennan's outburst came as he stood next to one of Nassar's victims, Gwen Anderson, as she recounted the molestation she suffered at the hands of Nassar. Nassar is serving a 60-year prison after pleading guilty in July to child pornography charges in federal court.
