Karachi (Pakistan), Oct 10 (ANI): Pakistani theatre actress Shamim was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Multan, on Monday. According to local media reports, Shamim, better known as Shamo, was killed outside her house in Shah town of the Multan city. Shamim's brother Saifur Rehman told the police that someone had called his sister to come outside the house. The unidentified men then opened fire on her, killing her on the spot. He also revealed that Shamim had been receiving death threats from someone performing alongside her in theatres. He said that his sister might have been killed by her estranged husband.
Texas (United States), Oct 10 (ANI): A student gunned down a police officer in Texas Technology University campus. The university has named the suspect as 19-year-old Hollis Daniels who pulled the trigger then fled the scene. The university staff says police visited Daniels earlier in the day and took him to the school's police station after finding drugs. A SWAT team moved in to sweep the campus after the suspect ran away.

California (United States), Oct 10 (ANI): A state of emergency in several counties in Northern California occurred as strong winds fan wildfires, killing at least 10 people and forced thousands to flee their homes. Firefighters are up against winds of more than 50 miles per hour as they battle the blaze, which officials say has already racked up the highest wildfire-related death count in a decade. The flames have taken hold of some of California's prime wine country, including Napa, sending a blanket of thick black smoke over the region. So far, 15 separate fires have been identified across more than a hundred square miles.
Kathmandu (Nepal), Oct 09 (ANI): The fifth round of meeting of Eminent Persons Group (EPG), which includes representatives from Nepal and India, concluded in Kathmandu on Sunday. The two-day meeting was expected to agree on the text to revise the peace and friendship treaty signed between Nepal and India. The EPG formed by the Government of Nepal and India focuses mainly on the Nepal-India Treaty of Peace and Friendship in which the Nepali side is seeking some amendments over the time. The next round of EPG meeting is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 11th and 12th November.
United States, Oct 09 (ANI): As Tropical Storm Nate rapidly weakened on Sunday morning, it continued to leave streets and highways flooded in United States' Mississippi and Alabama. The storm's maximum sustained winds dropped from 70 to 45 miles per hour as it moved northeast into Alabama, prompting the National Hurricane Center to end its tropical storm warning for the region. Nate killed at least 30 people in Central America before entering the Gulf of Mexico. It's the fourth major storm to strike the United States in less than two months.
Kathmandu (Nepal), Oct 9 (ANI): The Nepal Parliament will elect country's third President and Vice-President within one month after the completion of two-tier election of Provincial and House of Representative. The Legislature Parliament of Nepal on Sunday passed the bill concerning the election of President and Vice-President. The newly endorsed bill has an age limitation of not less than 45 years and naturalized Nepali citizenship to stand for the election. It has also prohibited the people who are accused and jailed for more than 20 years in corruption. The candidate can file the nominations free of cost but will need five supporters and five proposers. The bill also allowed anyone out of the Parliament or any state assemblies to stand in fray for the post and has also erased the provision of security deposit of Rs. 1 lakh and 75 thousand. As per the new bill, a total of 884, including 275 from House of Representatives, 59 National Assembly and 50 members from the Provincial council
Barcelona (Spain), Oct 09 (ANI): Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Catalonia's capital Barcelona to express their opposition to any declaration of independence from Spain, showing how divided the region is on the issue. The protesters rallied in central Barcelona, waving Spanish and Catalan flags and banners saying "Catalonia is Spain" and "Together we are stronger", as politicians on both sides hardened their positions in the country's worst political crisis for decades.
Biloxi/ Mississippi (United States), Oct 08 (ANI): Hurricane Nate made landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi River as a Category 1 storm packing winds of 85 miles per hour on Saturday night, threatening parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama with torrential rain and potential flooding. Nate, the fourth major storm to strike the United States in less than two months, killed at least 30 people in Central America before entering the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and bearing down on the U.S. South. It has also shut down most oil and gas production in the Gulf. Nate comes on the heels of three other major storms, Harvey, Irma and Maria, which devastated Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, respectively. But as a Category 1, the weakest in the five-category ranking used by meteorologists, Nate appeared to lack the devastating punch of its predecessors.

New Delhi, Oct 07 (ANI): Six weeks after the world's fastest-developing refugee emergency began, the United Nations says it's bracing for a possible further exodus of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar. More than half a million refugees have now fled to neighbouring Bangladesh, after escaping a bloody crackdown by the Myanmar military. The United Nations says the flow of people over the border hasn't stopped yet, and plans to send a senior official to Myanmar in the coming days. Myanmar officials say they've tried to reassure those wanting to flee to Bangladesh, but couldn't stop them from leaving. With almost 300,000 Rohingya now in urgent need of food in Bangladesh, aid agencies are warning of a malnutrition crisis.

Poland, Oct 06 (ANI): Pancake batter is paint and a frying pan is the canvas for an artist, who draws faces of famous people before serving them to friends and family for breakfast. Jacek Bundyra carefully draws patterns, using raw pancake dough dyed with food colorants or natural ingredients on a frying pan. He later heats up his drawing to save the image for a short time until it gets served. Pancake dough is fairly simple to make for an average cook, but Bundyra took it to another level. Along with commercial food colorants, he uses parsley, spinach, cocoa or beetroot juice to add colours to his pancakes.
