NFL players unite to defy U.S. President over anthem protests

London (United Kingdom), Sep 25 (ANI): Members of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens NFL teams on Sunday defied United States President Donald Trump by kneeling during the national anthem ahead of their game in London. The players took the step after the U.S. President on Sunday stepped up his criticism of National Football League players who protest during the pre-game national anthem, calling on fans to consider boycotting the NFL if teams do not discipline them. Trump warned players who refused to stand for the anthem in what began last year as a form of protest over excessive use of force by police against African-Americans. However, many players on both teams chose to ignore Trump's warnings and were joined by their team-mates linking arms in a sign of unity and solidarity. New England Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft criticised Trump and defended the players by saying they have the right to protest.

Back on track: Nepal rebuilds its passenger railway

Janakpur (Nepal), Sep 25 (ANI): It's been three years that the engines are silent and the coaches turned out to be a playground for the children, place to bask the cow dung and latrines for locals here. Shrubs spring up around a rusted train engine in southeast Nepal, with carriages propped up on bricks and tall grass growing over abandoned wheels in mute testimony to years of neglect suffered by an abandoned railway line. Nepal remains largely isolated from the global economy, dependent on aid and remittances. The railway which will have its track expanded to Bardibas of Mahottari district some 44.1 kilometers distance will be completed in much shorter time as it takes about 1 and half hour by bus. With the revival of the train it is expected to take less than an hour. It fell into disrepair after years of neglect and since 2014, the train has sat stationary, its rusting carcass now a playground for local children, while Janakpur's markets are empty. India is funding the reconstructio

6.2 magnitude earthquake rocks Mexico

Mexico, Sep 24 (ANI): A 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook southern Mexico on Saturday and spread alarm in the capital, where rescuers temporarily suspended a search for survivors of a bigger tremor earlier this week out of fear of further building collapses. The United States Geological Survey said that the new quake was relatively shallow with an epicenter near Juchitan, a tropical region of Oaxaca state hard hit by another major earthquake on September 7. Already shaken by the two recent earthquakes that killed at least 384 people in Mexico this month, thousands of people ran out onto the streets again in Oaxaca and Mexico City, many in pajamas, when seismic alarms sounded before the new tremor was felt shortly before 8 a.m. The tremors were mild in Mexico City. No new damage was immediately reported, but to keep workers safe, rescue efforts were suspended in areas affected by Tuesday's quake.
