All neighbouring countries in support of concrete action against terrorism: Syed Akbaruddin

Venezuela, Sep 18 (ANI): Pushing terrorism on the agenda to the best possible extent at the NAM Summit, India on Saturday asserted that "concrete action" is needed in the fight against terrorism and asked the 120-nation group to set up a mechanism to ensure effective cooperation in combating the menace. While addressing the media, United Nation permanent representative of India, Syed Akbaruddin, said that India's idea was to highlight terrorism as a growing and important challenge to the whole world and NAM countries. He added that barring a few exceptions, all neighbouring countries were in full support of India.

29 injured in explosion in dumpster in Manhattan

Manhattan (U.S.), Sep 18 (ANI): At least 29 people got injured after a loud explosion was heard in a dumpster at the West 23 street 6th Avenue, in Manhattan New York on Saturday night. Police and fire representatives are investigating the explosion.

BRP to meet to decide on filing cases against Pak Army generals for killing Baloch people

Geneva, Sep 17 (ANI): Giving details about his plans to take on Pakistan, Baloch Republican Party leader, Brahumdagh Bugti, on Saturday said his party has called for a central committee meeting on 18th and 19th of September. The committee will discuss the agenda of moving International Court of Justice against Pakistan's agents of mayhem on Baloch people. He added that they will make their next move against all ex-generals of Pakistan army, including Pervez Musharraf and Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the international court of justice.

Growing Chinese presence in Pakistan raises concerns

Gilgit/Geneva, Sep 17 (ANI): The increasing Chinese presence in Pakistan due to the construction of highly publicized China-Pakistan Economic Corridor or CPEC, especially in the illegally occupied territories of Gilgit Balitistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir has led to growing concern about unemployment and large scale displacement of locals. Despite being the gateway of the multi-billion dollars project, the investment in power projects for Gilgit Baltistan, which is faced with acute power shortage, is next to negligible. Even in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the total investment in power projects is only $1.8 billion dollars, the least among the other provinces of Pakistan. Apart from disproportionate distribution of funds, presence of Chinese workers has left the locals without jobs, hampering their economic development. Geneva, Sep 17 (ANI): Baloch Representative to the UNHRC Mehran Marri on Saturday said India raising the issue of Balochistan gave him reason to be optimistic about the future of his province and its people. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for flagging the issue during this year's Independence day address to the nation. Marri also thanked Afghanistan for being equally supportive. He also said that the U.S. is well aware of the connivance and dirty games of Pakistan in Balochistan, and therefore, urged Washington to have a rethink on their policies towards Islamabad.

Pakistan spreading communalism in Kashmir: Shaukat Ali

Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 17 (ANI): Strongly condemning Jama'at-ud-Da'wah chief Hafiz Saeed's slogan 'Kashmir banega Pakistan' exiled United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) chief Shaukat Ali on Saturday said Islamabad is spreading communalism in the valley. He said, "Pakistan says whatever feels like. Pakistan is not comfortable with democracy. Pakistan's sitting Prime Minister is called an Indian agent. These are false slogans of Pakistan. These are slogans to divide Kashmir. Jammu province is a Hindu majority, Ladakh is a Buddhist majority. What attractions will a Buddhist or a Hindu have in Pakistan?". He added said Kashmir will become Pakistan is a useless slogan, which does not reflect reality.

Uyghurs, Tibetans stage protest against human rights violations in China

Geneva, Sep 16 (ANI): The Uyghurs and Tibetans carried a large-scale demonstration in Geneva on Friday, the first large-scale demonstration including a substantial Uyghur delegation since China's Universal Periodic Review in 2013. The action consisted of a march of around 2,000 people from Palais Wilson to the Broken Chair Monument across from the Palais des Nations. The demonstration has been jointly organised by the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), the Tibetan Community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (TCSL), and the World Uyghur Congress (WUC), with the purpose of bringing together hundreds of demonstrators to bring attention to ongoing human rights violations against Uyghurs and Tibetans in China. The demonstration comes amid tremendous pressure against the Uyghur community in East Turkestan in terms of religious freedom and freedom of movement. China's recently adopted 'Anti-Terror' Law has also legitimised continued collective punishment under the guise of security.

The Matcha flavor delicacies attract youth and foreign tourists. These are sweets that were made with Matcha, a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea. Six dead, 150 injured in train collision

Multan (Pakistan), Sep 15 (ANI): At least six people were killed and more than 150 remain injured when a train collided with a freight train near Multan in Pakistan's Punjab province on Thursday. The incident took place near Bucch railway station in Sher Shah area. The accident happened after a man was reportedly overrun by the freight train and the driver stopped the train to take out the body. The injured have been rushed to the hospital. A probe has been ordered into the incident.

Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 14 (ANI): Maintaining that people of Gilgit-Baltistan are deprived of their basis rights, Director of Gilgit-Baltistan National Congress Senge H Sering said he would try his best to inform the United Nations about the human rights violation and atrocities carried out by Pakistan in the region. Sering added that they will try to tell the member states of the UN that how the people in Gilgit-Baltistan are deprived of their rights and no Constitutional institutions are being given to them by Pakistan. Pointing out that in Gilgit-Baltistan there is mass land grabbing going on and people are being displaced on a large level, Sering said in the next two years the density will only increase. He was also of the opinion that the issue of Gilgit-Baltistan gets overshadowed by Pakistan raising the issue of Kashmir.

Illegal taxes imposed on the people of Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit-Baltistan, Sep13: Taxes are a way of generating revenue for various government projects. Paying taxes also makes the citizens involved in the development process. However, the people of Gilgit Baltistan are forced to pay heavy taxes to the administration, which turns a blind eye to their needs. The same grim situation has continued for years. Despite collecting taxes according to its own will, Islamabad has failed miserably in generating employment, providing infrastructure or containing inflation. Locals are demanding that all illegal taxes be immediately called off and Gilgit-Baltistan be made a tax-free zone.
