Twin blasts rock Hua Hin's resort in Thailand

Hua Hin (Thailand), Aug 12 (ANI): Two loud explosions ripped through the Hua Hin resort in Thailand on early Friday morning. The explosions were reported close to the clock tower in the centre. More than 20 people have been wounded, including some foreigners. The resort is a popular upmarket spot in the south of Bangkok. The violence comes as Thailand holds a public holiday to mark the birthday of Queen Sirikit. Police are investigating as to who are responsible for the attacks, and what remains the motive.

Pak MoFA spokesperson rejects India's claim of infiltration across LoC

Islamabad, Aug 11 (ANI): Rubbishing the revelations made by terror suspect Bahadur Ali, Pakistan Ministry of Foreign office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria on Thursday rejected India's allegations of infiltration across the Line of control (LoC). 13 injured as another blast rocks Quetta

Quetta, Pakistan, Aug 11 (ANI): Barely two days after Pakistan's Quetta city was rocked by a bomb blast outside a hospital killing 74 people, another explosion was reported near Al Khair Hospital which hit a Pakistani security vehicle. Reportedly 13 people have been injured in the blast.

Muslims help build Lord Shiva temple in Birgunj

The bomb exploded when some lawyers and journalists had gathered to join the last procession of Bilal Anwar Kasi, a prominent lawyer, who was killed in the city earlier on Monday.

1,000 people take part in half marathon at Indo-Nepal border

Champawat (Uttarakhand), Aug 08 (ANI): In a bid to boost bilateral ties and friendly relations between the two countries, at least 1,000 Indian and Nepalese participated in a half marathon organised at the Indo-Nepal border on the International Friendship Day. The event was organised by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) along with Nepal Army at the Banbasa border in Uttarakhand's Champawat district. Seven kilometers of the 21-kilometre long run was covered in Nepal while rest 14 kilometres in Indian geographical boundary.

Blast at Rio Olympics: Bomb squad blows up unattended backpack, no injuries sustained

Brazil, Aug 07 (ANI): A loud blast was heard at the Rio Olympics near the finishing line of the men's cycling road race on Saturday. Bomb squad reached the spot to take stock of the situation and carried out a controlled detonation of an unattended backpack near the end of the cycling course. Reportedly, the backpack belonged to a homeless man. There were no injuries reported among those attending the cycling road race event.

Nepal's newly elected govt. hold talks with Madhesi leaders

Nepal, Aug 05 (ANI): Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's newly elected government held talks with the Madhesi parties to discuss about declaring the people killed in the Madhesi agitation as martyrs. Dahal called the leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front to Singha Durbar on Thursday and held discussion in this regard. Sher Bahadur Deuba, president of Nepali Congress, was present in the meeting. The NC and CPN (Maoist Center) had signed an agreement with the Madhesi parties promising to declare those killed in the Madhesi movement as martyrs and to form a probe committee headed by a former justice to investigate into the incidents of atrocities that followed after the promulgation of the new constitution on September 20 last year. Madhesi leaders said that the eagerness with which Dahal convened the meeting was a gesture of good omen.

VK Singh meets retrenched Indian workers in Mecca, assures assistance

Mecca (Saudi Arabia), Aug 05 (ANI): Taking stock of the situation of the retrenched Indian workers in Saudi Arabia, Minister of State for External Affairs General (Retd.) V K Singh reached Mecca to assess the situation and finalise modalities to bring back those who want to return to India.
