Japan, Apr 13 (ANI): A large number of foreign tourists enter Japan from Kansai International Airport. Normal supply of goods resumes from India to Nepal

Nepal, Apr 13 (ANI): About 1,000 trucks from India carrying essential goods, including fuel, food and medicines, crossed over to Nepal from Raxaul-Birgunj border. The supply was badly affected because of months-long agitation and blockade by Madhesi community in Nepal. Nepal faced acute crisis of fuel and other essential commodities because of blockade at Indo-Nepal border by Madhesi agitators. Madhesis launched protests against the government demanding equal rights and representation in parliament after the new Constitution was adopted. Since their demands have not been met, Madhesi leaders and other minority groups are threatening to re-launch agitation across Nepal.

Sikh pilgrims arrive in Pakistan to celebrate harvest festival

Lahore, Apr 13 (ANI): A group of more than nine hundred Sikh pilgrims arrived in Pakistan to celebrate the harvest festival of Baisakhi. The festival marks harvesting of crops by the Sikh community. On this day, Sikhs dress up in colourful attires and dance to the tunes of 'Bhangra'- the folk dance of northern Punjab state. Around 2400 Sikh pilgrims from India, are expected to visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib to participate in religious rituals during the Baisakhi festival. Baisakhi is also important as it is celebrated as the Sikh New Year.

SpaceX rocket booster makes breakthrough landing at sea in Florida

Florida, Apr 09 (ANI): SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Saturday successfully landed on the Atlantic ocean platform after it lifted off from Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Friday.The two-stage rocket's main body separated and headed toward a landing platform floating on the ocean about 300 kilometers northeast of Cape Canaveral. The rocket's cargo ship which is called Dragon, is scheduled to arrive on Sunday at the International Space Station.

Fake Indian currency worth 10 million seized in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Apr 09 (ANI): The Nepal police have seized fake Indian currency worth 10 million in Nepal's Kathmandu city. Six persons, including one Pakistani and five Nepali nationals, have been arrested in the case. Deputy Inspector General of Police Bam Bahadur Bhandari said a special team was formed to tail the suspects before they were arrested. The accused had plans to circulate the fake currency in India. India often accuses Pakistan of circulating fake currency to destablise its economy, a charge that the latter denies.

UK's move to lift ban on pro-Khalistan International Sikh Youth Federation opposed

London / Delhi, Apr 07 : Experts in India have strongly condemned a move by the United Kingdom to lift a 15-year-old ban on International Sikh Youth Federation, a group associated in the past with terrorism against India. Recently, Britain's Minister of state in the Home Office John Hayes signed the statuary instrument relating to the Terrorism Act 2000 (Proscribed Organizations) (Amendment) Order 2016, lifting the ban on the International Sikh Youth Federation. Both houses of British Parliament approved the motion to drop the organisation from the list of proscribed organizations. Formed in 1984, the International Sikh Youth Federation was engaged in terrorist attacks, assassinations and bombings against both Indian figures and moderate Sikhs opposing them. India recalls great deeds of Begum Hazrat Mahal

Kathmandu, Apr 07 (ANI): Begum Hazarat Mahal, who had rebelled against the British colonial rule in 1857, was remembered on her 137th death anniversary. In Kathmandu, the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Ranjit Rae, laid the wreath at the tomb of Begum Hazrat Mahal in Jame Masjid and recalled her contribution in the freedom struggle of India. Begum of Awadh and the first wife of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, she died on April 7 1879 during her refuge in Nepal.

Pak considering India's request of consular access to detained RAW officer- Foreign Office Spokesperson

Islamabad, Apr 07 (ANI): Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakariya on Thursday said that the government was considering Indian request to allow consular access to RAW officer Kulbhushan Yadav, who was arrested in Baluchistan recently. Zakariya said that Pakistan and India had signed an agreement on consular matters in 2008, adding that the request would be considered in view of the relevant clauses of the agreement. Zakariya said that the law enforcement agencies are making every effort to apprehend all the individuals involved in subversive activities in Pakistan.

Industry Minister meets workers of closed sugar mill in Birgunj

Nepal, Apr 07 (ANI): Nepal's State minister for Industry Meghraj Nepali Nishad met workers of closed sugar mill in Birgunj and assured them to get it reopened. The state-owned mill was closed a decade ago and hundreds of workers, mostly Madhesis, became unemployed. The factory is spread over 52 bighas of land. Several attempts were made by the government in the past to privatise the mill, but it failed due to political instability in the country. The factory, with a capacity to crush 1,500 tonnes of sugarcane, was established in 1965 with assistance from the Soviet Union.

He added that there has been no conversation yet between them and the government. The blockade was over a long time ago but people in Birgunj and other areas are still deprived of essential goods and commodities, which is causing black marketing. Mahato directly targeted the government and said it seems to be uninterested in fulfilling the demands of the people. Due to the Madhesi agitation, the industrial sector in Nepal has incurred a loss of 200 billion Nepalese rupees. More than 50 people have been killed as a result of the protest.

Health Workers in PoK Face Hardships

PoK, Apr 05: The people in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) are leading a life of turmoil and hardships. Worsening health services in the region are adding to their woes. In a recently held meeting at Abaseen Institute of Medical and Modern Science in Islamabad, the issues of doctors and health staff from Muzaffarabad in PoK were not addressed. The representatives of the medical association, in an interview, dismissed the manner in which doctors were ill-famed and unlawfully subjected to public trials. The doctors presented a hopeless picture of the deteriorating condition of the health workers in PoK. They narrated several instances where doctors were threatened with knives and prevented from leaving the premises. Not only health workers, the teachers and other government officials in PoK have also been facing problems due to political instability and insecurity in the region.

Riyadh: PM Modi assures of passing GST
