Climate protesters, riot police clash in Paris

Paris, Nov 30 (ANI): French riot police continued to clash with climate protesters in Paris, ahead of the international climate conference set to begin on Monday. Groups of protesters in front of Place de la Republique threw objects at police, inciting them to spray tear gas and charge towards them. Other demonstrators tried to quell the situation by telling violent protesters to stop throwing objects, to no avail. The demonstrators were gathered after a large march was cancelled due to the state of emergency put in place by French authorities after a series of attacks in the French capital on November 13 that killed 130 people. French President Francois Hollande will host 147 heads of state and government for the World Climate Change Conference (COP21), which aims to secure a binding commitment from participating countries to reduce global emissions and keep temperature rises to below two degrees Celsius.

Three killed, nine injured in attack on Colorado abortion clinic

Colorado, Nov 28 (ANI): The police arrested a gunman, who stormed a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Colorado Springs on Friday and opened fire in an attack that left at least three people dead and nine others injured, authorities said. The dead included a police officer and two civilians. Those injured are being treated at the area hospitals. The suspect first engaged in a protracted gun battle with the police but ultimately surrendered to officers inside the building about five hours after the start of the violence, which played out under a steady snowfall in Colorado's second-largest city. Nepal faces medicine crisis amidst ongoing protest

Birgunj, Nov 26 (ANI): Nepal has been facing a medical crisis amidst the ongoing protest by the Madhesi community at the main crossing of India-Nepal border. Trucks importing medicines from India were blocked at the border crossing of Birgunj by the Madhesi community. Nepal has been in turmoil since September, when it adopted a new constitution. People from ethnic Madhesi groups living along the border with India, began protests saying Nepal's first republican charter did not accommodate their interests. A doctor, Rakesh, said that there was shortage of injectable medicines mainly imported from India. The landlocked country is heavily dependent on neighboring India for most of its medicine and fuel. Protesters have blockaded trucks from neighbouring India for more than two months, leading to acute shortages of fuel and medicine.
