Pak escalating violence along border to hide its Covid-19 failures: PoK Activist

Glasgow (Scotland), April 15 (ANI): A political activist from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) has alleged that Pakistan has been regularly violating ceasefire at the Line of Control these days to infiltrate terrorists into Kashmir valley amid COVID-19 spread. He says that Pakistan has upped violence along the border to hide its incompetence at handling Coronavirus spread and wants to divert people's attention. Amjad Ayub Mirza, a political activist and author based in Glasgow also said that It is Pakistan, which is responsible for ceasefire violation. We, the people of PoK are aware of this fact that always Pakistan initiates a ceasefire violation to which India retaliates. The activist said that like always, this time too, the ceasefire violation was started by Pakistan which created problems for locals, even in the areas of Jammu that do not even come in the jurisdiction of the ceasefire line.

Doctors refuse to work in PoK as admin fails to provide PPE kits

Muzaffarabad (PoK), April 14 (ANI): Doctors and paramedic staff in PoK hospitals are protesting against the administration as they fear getting infected with Coronavirus due to the unavailability of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits. At Ambor hospital in Muzaffarabad, the doctors and other employees said they are being pushed towards death by the government as they have been working without safety kits. Pakistan occupied Kashmir has poor healthcare system and it is completely unprepared to tackle a situation like the COVID-19 outbreak. In many areas in PoK, neither doctors nor testing labs are available. Suspected coronavirus patients are roaming amid the rest of the population without being examined.

Hindu family in Karachi forced to convert to Islam amid COVID-19 outbreak

Karachi (Pakistan) April 13, 2020: A Hindu family in Karachi city of Pakistan was attacked by Maulvis or Muslim clerics and forced them to convert to Islam. Basant Kudar, a Hindu and his mother were also threatened to be killed if they disobeyed the order. Basant's brother narrated the whole incident in a video. A FIR has also been registered against the culprits. Minorities in Pakistan are facing persecution as they are regularly being threatened by the Muslims to convert to Islam.

Coronavirus toll surpasses 2,000 in single day in US

New Delhi, Apr 11 (ANI): New coronavirus deaths in the United States surpassed 2,000 on the highest tally of fatalities recorded within a day so far. The total number of people, who have succumbed to the virus in the country, has now reached 18,545. Meanwhile, the tally of confirmed COVID-19 deaths has reached 100,000 worldwide. Keeping the surging cases of the contagion in view, President Donald Trump, during a White House press briefing, said that he will announce the members of a new taskforce made up of people from the medical and business communities to determine when and how to reopen the country on Tuesday.

WHO confirms new Ebola case in Congo days ahead of epidemic's expected end

Geneva (Switzerland), Apr 11 (ANI): After 52 days going without an infection, a new case of Ebola has reported in Democratic Republic of the Congo, just days ahead the epidemic was expected to be declared to be over in the African country by the World Health Organization (WHO), confirmed the world health body. "Response teams on the ground have confirmed a new case of Ebola in DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo). We have been preparing for and expecting more cases. Unfortunately this means the government of DRC will not be able to declare an end to the outbreak on Monday as hoped," said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO's Director-General.

PCR-based tests probably most accurate for coronavirus: WHO Executive Director

Geneva (Switzerland), Apr 11 (ANI): The World Health Organization (WHO) on April 11 said the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) based tests for coronavirus are probably the most accurate of the lot among other tests being conducted to diagnose if a person is infected with COVID-19 or not. "Polymerase chain reaction based tests are probably the most accurate way to determine if someone is infected with COVID-19. Governments need to focus specifically on PCR based testing or any form of testing that detects active infection," said Dr. Michael J Ryan, WHO Executive Director for Health Emergencies Programme.

COVID-19: UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson shifted to ICU

New Delhi, Apr 07 (ANI): United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who had tested positive for coronavirus last month, was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Monday, UK media reported. Johnson was admitted to a hospital in London on Sunday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "'Hang in there, Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Hope to see you out of hospital and in perfect health very soon." UK has reported over 50,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus while more than 5000 have succumbed to the deadly virus.

COVID-19: Hindus denied ration by Pak govt in Sindh province amid lockdown

Sindh (Pakistan), Apr 01 (ANI): Several members of Hindu and Christian communities said that they are being denied ration by authorities in Pakistan's Sindh Province amid coronavirus pandemic. They were denied ration by authorities because of their religion. While speaking to ANI, one of the Hindu locals said, "My son is a rickshaw-puller and he is running our family but the situation is getting worst here. It's been more than a week that we are sitting at our homes but the authorities haven't sent us any food item yet." COVID-19: Hindus denied food supplies in Pakistan's Karachi

Karachi (Pakistan), Mar 30 (ANI): Amid COVID-19 outbreak, thousands of needy gathered at Rehrri Ghoth in Karachi to receive food supplies and daily essentials. However, those who belong to the Hindu community were told to go back since the rations were only meant for Muslims. Sindh government issued order to distribute ration in lockdown through local NGOs and administration to daily wage workers and labourers. The distribution of food supplies was organised by local government in collaboration with the district government. Hindus were told that they were not eligible for having food supplies since it was only meant for Muslims, informed activists. No screening arrangements were provided for nearly 3,000 people who had gathered to collect rations. Hindus in Lyari, Sachal Ghoth and other parts of Karachi as well as all over Sindh are being denied a share in government food. COVID-19: Singapore postpones Shangri-La dialogue

New Delhi, Mar 28 (ANI): Singapore postponed Shangri-La dialogue scheduled for June 5 to 7 in the backdrop of coronavirus outbreak. Shangri-La dialogue is a top-level regional security forum hosted by Singapore. The calling-off the event comes as countries around the world tighten their borders to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Singapore took the step of not allowing short-term visitors to enter or transit through the country from March 23, in a move to reduce the risk of importing COVID-19 cases. This marks the first time that the annual Shangri-La Dialogue has been called off since it was first launched in 2002. It is usually held in June at the Shangri-La Hotel.

27 killed in terror attack on Gurdwara in Kabul
