Brisbane, Nov 15 (ANI): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met French President Francois Hollande for bilateral talks at the G20 Leaders' Summit in Brisbane, Australia. The G20 summit in Brisbane is focused on boosting world growth, fireproofing the global banking system and closing tax loopholes for giant multinationals. Earlier this year, France had proposed to give India a 1 billion euro ($1.4 billion) credit line to fund sustainable infrastructure and urban development projects. The credit line would be available over three years and would be delivered through the French Development Agency, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius had said on his visit to New Delhi in July. Fabius had said Paris was keen to share technology and industrial development with India in the defence sector.
Brisbane, Nov 15 (ANI): Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott on Saturday welcomed all the G-20 leaders as the summit commenced in Brisbane, Australia. Abbott met each leader and shook hands with them as they arrived at the venue for the Summit. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi too was welcomed by the Australian PM after 28 years as Modi greeted him with a warm hug. Modi also had a laughter session with his Australian counterpart as he was welcomed by Abbott at the two day G-20 Summit. This followed a cultural program in welcome of the top leadership. Earlier, Modi had a meeting with the world leaders where he said that repatriation of unaccounted money abroad is a key priority for India.

Indians living in Australia said that it is great honour to have Indian PM in the country after 28 years and remained hopeful that India will go in positive direction under Modi's leadership. Meanwhile, the NRIs demanded PM Modi to grant dual citizenship for them so that they too can contribute to India's development in a number of ways. PM Modi raised the issue of black money while in meeting at G-20 Summit and said that 'repatriation of unaccounted money abroad is a key priority for India'.
Dhaka/ New York, Nov 15 (ANI): Former Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Muchkund Dubey has said that the improved relation between both the neighbouring countries has resolved the issue of security anxiety. Dubey was addressing a gathering at the Bangladesh High Commissioners' Summit held in Dhaka organized by University of Dhaka and the India-Bangladesh Foundation on Friday. Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, was the chief guest who inaugurated the event. Meanwhile, Ali, said talks with his Indian counterpart, Sushma Swaraj, in June on key bilateral issues, including Land Boundary Agreement and proposed Teesta river water sharing deal, during which the Indian side also raised the matter of illegal immigration, proved to be fruitful. The summit was held at the Senate Hall of the Dhaka University.
Brisbane, Nov 15 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived at the venue of the G-20 Summit meeting where he will be seen joining ranks with leaders from 20 nations around the world on Saturday. Earlier today, US President Barrack Obama and his Russian counterpart Vladamir Putin arrived in Brisbane for the summit. Yesterday, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hosted a dinner for his Indian counterpart on the margins of the G-20 Summit, and had told the leader that he was happy to meet him once again. After attending the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to travel to Sydney, where he will attend a community reception and address the Indian Diaspora. The Prime Minister will then travel to Canberra and address the special joint sitting of the Australian Parliament on November 18. He is also to address a community event in Melbourne before travelling to Fiji.
Brisbane, Nov 14 (ANI): MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Friday said that the European Union President Herman Von Rompuy assured support to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposal for International Yoga Day. He added that there were discussions on bilateral ties between India and Japan. Speaking on the cartographic error in Indian map at the University event, Akbaruddin said that they had no knowledge of errors that they had committed and offered unconditional regret and apology.
Brisbane, Nov 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane today, left behind a message for students, saying research is the mother of development. The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by industrialist Gautam Adani, interacted with students and left a message on an 'Agrobot' for them. "Research is key to development. There is an ongoing relationship between the development journey of human kind and research. Increasing dominance of science and technology in the field of agriculture will surely prove to be beneficial to farmers and to the field of agriculture as a whole. It is an important endeavour for the welfare of mankind. Best wishes for your efforts," he wrote in his message. The Prime Minister will meet UK Prime Minister David Cameron later in the day.

Meanwhile, an Indian student in Australia, Aditya Dubey, said Modi's popularity internationally made him want to attend this address. A non resident Indian in Sydney, Jasvinder Ramana, said Modi has become a favourite among the youngsters. Modi is on a three country visit Myanmar, Australia and Fiji to participate in various summits and bilateral meetings.

Leaders sat down for discussions at the East Asia Summit, which brings together ASEAN and the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, India, New Zealand and Australia. Obama heads a stellar cast of dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. United States President Barack Obama arrived in Myanmar on Wednesday for regional meetings with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Kathmandu, Nov 13 (ANI): Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, met Nepal's Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at his official residence in Kathmandu. Gadkari was in Nepal for two-day infrastructure summit. During the meeting, Gadkari and Koirala discussed about various issues like India-Nepal relations and development assistance. Gadkari also assured Prime Minister Koirala of complete cooperation and support from India in development issues. Gadkari also suggested Nepal government to follow India's successful public-private partnership model in constructing roads and other development projects.
Nay Pyi Taw, Nov 13 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on the sidelines of the ongoing East Asia Summit 2014 in Myanmar's capital Naypyitaw. "I am glad to meet you. Earlier, Russia's former Prime Minister had come to India. We had a very nice discussion on various issues, and now, we are waiting for Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit the country on December 11. People in India are very excited to welcome him," Prime Minister Modi told Prime Minister Medvedev. He added that he was waiting that on December 11 India will be able to attain new heights in terms of relationship with Russia. Prime Minister Modi is in Myanmar as part of his 10-day trip to three nations, the other two being Australia and Fiji. Modi left for Myanmar on November 11 on the first leg of his three-nation ten-day visit that will also take him to Australia and Fiji.

Modi, later in his tweets, said that they had an extensive discussion covering various aspects of bilateral relations. He also added that talks were held to strengthen ties in the fields of culture, commerce and enhancing connectivity. Modi is in Myanmar on the first leg of his three-nation 10-day tour that will also take him to Australia and Fiji. He was given the ceremonial Guard of Honour upon landing in the Myanmarese capital.
Nigeria, Nov 11 (ANI): A suicide bomber dressed as a student killed at least 48 people, most of them students, and injured 79 others at a school assembly in the northeastern Nigerian town of Potiskum. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack in Yobe State, a territory close to the stronghold of Sunni Muslim Boko Haram militants, who have staged a five-year insurgency. Angry locals had blocked access to the school and an adjoining hospital, preventing security forces from getting close to the site of the explosion. Boko Haram has intensified its attacks since the Nigerian government announced a ceasefire agreement last month as well as the imminent release of more than 200 school girls kidnapped by the group. Boko Haram's leader denied a ceasefire deal had been reached and the school girls have not been set free.
Dhaka, Nov 11 (ANI): Family members of the Islamist leader, Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, convicted for war crimes, urged Bangladesh Supreme Court to review its verdict of upholding his death penalty. In May last year, a special war crimes tribunal found Kamaruzzaman, an assistant secretary general of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, guilty of genocide and torture of unarmed civilians during the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan. The tribunal sentenced him to death. Kamaruzzaman's son, Hasan Iqbal pleaded his father's innocence and requested the court to reconsider the verdict. The tribunals have delivered death sentences for two Jamaat leaders, including its party chief and former minister, Motiur Rahman Nizami, late October this year.
