Brazil, July 11 (ANI): Uruguay forward Luis Suarez lost his appeal against a nine-match ban from competitive internationals and a four-month suspension from all soccer activities for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during a World Cup match, FIFA said. FIFA head of media, Delia Fischer confirmed that Suarez and the Uruguayan FA (AUF) had been informed of the decision. Fischer said that Suarez can still appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Meanwhile, Ray Whelan, the chief executive of the hospitality firm Match, has been questioned by Brazilian police in connection with VIP ticket 'scalping' at the World Cup.
Sao Paulo, July 10 (ANI): Argentina fans were jumping for joy in Sao Paulo's FIFA Fan Fest as their team reached their first World Cup final in 24 years. Argentina beat the Netherlands 4-2 on penalties to reach July 13 final after a dire two hours of defence-dominated soccer failed to provide a semi-final goal for the first time in the tournament's history.
Skardu, July 07: Such protests are widespread on the streets of Gilgit Baltistan. They have been fighting for their basic rights - education, healthcare, food and employment. In Skardu, thousands of people took part in demonstrations for several days to oppose the Pakistan Government's decision to withdraw the wheat subsidy. The protesters, under the banner of the Awami Action Committee, a constituent of 22 different political, religious and nationalist parties, also demanded an end to colonial rule. Nationalist leader Manzoor Parwana said that Gilgit Baltistan is a disputed area and Pakistan will never succeed in making it a part of its territory. Gilgit Baltistan was annexed from the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir and is strategically located between Pakistan, India, China and Afghanistan.

Muzaffarabad, June 30: These protesters are officials of various government departments like health, education and the Public Works Department in Azad Kashmir, who are demanding equal rights. Victims of discrimination for years, they have been demanding a hike in salaries and timely promotion. In 2009, a notification was issued to health workers in Azad Kashmir with a promise to give salaries equivalent to what employees in Punjab province are getting.
Beijing, June 30 (ANI): India and China on Monday signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on setting up of Chinese Industrial Parks. Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also met her Chinese counterpart Gao Hucheng making a strong pitch for greater access for Indian goods and services into China and seeking big ticket investments including for Chinese industrial parks in India
Beijing, June 30 (ANI): Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari on Monday received the ceremonial Guard of Honour in China's capital Beijing. Ansari held bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Li Yuanchao and also attended events to mark the 60th anniversary of Panchsheel agreement. The Vice President is on a five day official visit to China that is from June 26 to June 30.

Brazil, June 29 (ANI): Brazil fans were both relieved and ecstatic on Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beach as the hosts beat Chile 3-2 on penalties to make it through to the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday. The match finished 1-1 after extra-time with neither team able to find the decisive goal in the opening 120 minutes. Brazil will now play Colombia in the quarter-finals after Jose Pekerman's team beat Uruguay 2-0.
Beijing, June 28 (ANI): Vice President Hamid Ansari on Saturday met Chinese Premier Li Keqiang while on his visit to the neighbouring country. The Vice President also attended the trilateral Summit Meeting to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Panchsheel treaty at Beijing and expressed gratitude to China and Myanmar. Ansari also talked about the relations between the three nations and about the significance of the Panchsheel in binding India with China.
Beijing, June 28 (ANI): On his third day in Beijing, India's Vice President Hamid Ansari visited the Great Wall of China, along with Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman and other Indian officials. Ansari, who is on a five-day visit to Beijing, will also participate in a trilateral summit with host China and Myanmar on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Panchsheel agreement. This is the first visit of an Indian leader to China after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office last month. While addressing media onboard, Ansari had said that the central government was concerned over widening trade imbalance with China, even as trade between two south Asian neighbours is increasing.
Kabul, June 27 (ANI): A team of Indian engineers and supervisors are working diligently to build Afghanistan parliament building in Kabul city in a bid to boost bilateral ties between the two countries. The team comprising 50 workers from different states of India said they were facing no problems and added that Afghanistan has always been friendly towards Indians.The team members said people in Afghanistan were treating them well and they felt secure in the nation. The parliament building will be the most prominent symbol of Indian efforts to help Afghanistan. Its foundation stone was laid by the last king of Afghanistan, Mohammed Zahir Shah, in presence of President Hamid Karzai and then Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2005. The construction began in 2009 and efforts are underway to complete project by this year end.
Dhaka, June 27 (ANI): India said on Friday that Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj's maiden visit to Bangladesh was extremely satisfying and fulfilling. Swaraj discussed Teesta River water sharing deal, Land Boundary Agreement and illegal immigration issues with neighbouring Bangladesh. Earlier in the day, Swaraj met Bangladeshi former Prime Minister and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Begum Khaleda Zia, discussed regional and global issues of mutual interest. Swaraj also called on the leader of opposition in Bangladeshi Parliament, Roushan Ershad.
Dhaka, June 27 (ANI): Supporters of a Bangladeshi war crimes tribunal commemorated the 20th death anniversary of its founder, Jahanara Imam, in Dhaka on June 26. Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee was founded by Imam in 1973. The committee calls for the trial of people who committed crimes against humanity in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, in collaboration with the Pakistani forces. The tribunals have so far handed down 10 verdicts, including eight death sentences and two life imprisonments.

Ansari said that he is having a bilateral visit and all matters of bilateral agenda will be taken up in the council. Dhaka, June 26 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday highlighted the relations between Bangladesh and India post Indian Foreign Minister's visit to the neighbouring country. MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that Bangladesh has assured that it will not allow its territory to be used against India. He also said that the Indian Prime Minister has accepted the invitation extended by the Bangladesh PM to visit Bangladesh. Akbaruddin added that the External Affairs Minister personally handed over a letter by the Indian PM to Bangladesh's Prime Minister inviting her to visit India and chart her way to the bilateral talks between both nations.
Brazil, June 24 (ANI): Spain fans were finally able to celebrate a win in Brazil after their side ended an embarrassing campaign with a 3-0 win over Australia who left the World Cup winless. The win was more a matter of pride for the defending world champions who had no chance of advancing to the final 16 after losing their first two matches of the tournament. Even after their 3-0 victory over a battling but already-eliminated Australia salvaged some dignity, the departing champions always knew they'd be packing their bags no matter what the outcome. Most fans seemed to enjoy the atmosphere of being part of a World Cup no matter how poorly the team may have performed on the pitch. Nonetheless, Australia fan Oscar Clarke said the Aussies held up pretty well considering they are ranked 62nd in the world, 61 places behind Spain who were number one in the FIFA rankings at the start of the tournament.
Rio De Janeiro, June 24: Brazilians celebrated at the FIFA Fan Fest on Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beach as Brazil beat Cameroon 4-1 to finish top of World Cup Group A. Brazil forward Neymar shot to the top of the World Cup scoring charts with a superb double to help the hosts through to the Round of 16. The sparkling performance meant Brazil went some way to dispelling doubts about their title credentials following last week's goalless draw with Mexico. Brazil will play Chile in the Round of 16 on Saturday.
Dhaka, June 24 (ANI): The ruling Awami League, the oldest political party of Bangladesh, celebrated its 65th founding anniversary on June 23. The party flags were hoisted atop the Awami League offices across the country from sunrise. Founded by Bangladesh's independence leader late Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Awami League Party led a nine -month liberation war, backed by India, against Pakistani occupation forces in 1971. The party leaders and activists also paid tribute to the portrait of Rahman. Thousands of activists of the Awami League took out a huge procession in national capital Dhaka holding pictures of the party founder Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Sao Paulo, June 24 (ANI): Dutch Fans were satisfied with the excellent performance of their national team in the FIFA World Cup, hoping the team could go to the final. Two substitutes scored apiece to give the Netherlands a 2-0 win over Chile in their last Group B match and secured the top spot. Although Chile lost the match and will confront the Brazilian team which topped Group A, Chilean fans believe their team will have a good performance in the future. Leroy Fer scored the winner in the 77th minute to ensure the Dutch entered the Round of 16 with a perfect record.
