Pashtuns back Baloch cause for freedom from Pakistan

Balochistan (Pakistan), Feb 05 (ANI): In a pre-emptive strike to stop the Pashtuns from backing the Baloch cause of freedom from Pakistan, the security forces heckled, harassed and arrested a group of Pashtun leaders midway, when they were going to attend the funeral of Arman Loni. Arman Loni- A local PTM leader, died earlier after he and his supporters who were peacefully protesting against the growing forced evictions in the region were subjected to open fire of Pakistani state forces. It is pertinent to mention here that this wasn't an exclusive incident of Pakistan's brutality which has been perennially exercising military high handedness to keep tight control over the people and the resources of the region. This latest incident of Pakistani security forces has sparked a widespread rage on social media as well. People are demanding authorities to bring the culprits to justice.

Pakistan cracks down in POK and Gilgit

Baba Jan, a leading political activist from Gilgit Baltistan, who has been languishing in prison for more than eight years due to trumped-up charges, has been denied adequate healthcare despite his deteriorating health. Protesters, comprising his followers, friends and relatives in Hunza valley in Gilgit Baltistan demanded his immediate release and transfer to a better medical facility.

"Ko Banchha Crorepati" premiers in Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal), Feb 04 (ANI): Popular television program in India, Kaun Banega Crorepati's Nepali version, Ko Banchha Crorepati premiered in Nepal on Saturday. The reality program premiered on AP1 Television at 8:30 PM (Local Time) and is produced by SRBN Media. The first season of Nepali version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" is being hosted by Nepali megastar Rajesh Hamal and the title sponsor of the show is Coca-cola. It would be aired thrice in a week, i.e. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from next week. Under this show, the contestants would have to tackle a series of multiple-choice questions to win cash prize up to 10 million Nepali rupees. There will be a total of 15 questions in a set and in case the contestant manages to answer all the questions correctly, he/she will win the amount of one crore Nepali rupees. MQM leader Altaf Hussain calls for self-determination of Mohajirs under UN charter

Will have access to all students by Monday: Indian Ambassador to US on detained Indian students

Washington DC (USA), Feb 03 (ANI): Indian Ambassador to the US, Harsh Vardhan Shringla on Sunday, responded to the news of Indian national students detained in the United States. He also confirmed that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will have access to all students by Monday. Shringla said, "We are concerned and distressed that so many Indian students have been implicated in this issue regarding Farmington University. We've been very quick off the block in trying to ensure that interests of our students are protected." The diplomat further added, "We've either met or are scheduled to meet shortly majority of students under detention. We've had our people go to each and every centre across country to access our citizens and to ensure students are okay. By Monday, we'll have access to our students."

Pakistan Foreign Minister calls up Kashmiri separatist leader Geelani

New Delhi, Jan 03 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday called up hard-line Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, in yet another provocative act on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir. During the phone call, Qureshi discussed the situation in Kashmir with Geelani, according to ARY channel. Geelani is the second Kashmiri separatist leader whom Qureshi called up in the last few days. Trump hints at declaring emergency to get wall funding

New Delhi, Feb 03 (ANI): Ahead of the State of the Union (SOTU) address, United States President Donald Trump on Friday once again threatened to declare a state of emergency to secure funding for his proposed US-Mexico wall. The Hill quoted Trump as saying, "I think there's a good chance we'll have to do that (declare emergency)." While talking to reporters in the Cabinet Room of the White House, Trump hinted that he may divulge more details about his plan to build the wall in Tuesday's SOTU address. He added that people should "listen closely" to his speech. Lambasting a bipartisan conference committee debating wall funding, Trump said that it is a "waste of time", predicting that the Democrats would pay a price for opposing the wall.

Several injured as police thrash protesting students in Muzaffarabad

Muzaffarabad (PoK), Jan 31 (ANI): Several students got injured when police baton charged and used tear gas to disperse them in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday. Students from University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) staged a protest and demonstrated over non-provision of parking spaces in Muzaffarabad. The road was blocked which later led to a massive traffic jam. When students denied clearing the road police suddenly used force to disperse them from the spot. Police even used fire shells on students who went inside the university premises. Later, the students started raising slogan against the police and called them terrorists.

Death toll touches 58 in Brazil dam collapse

New Delhi, Jan 28 (ANI): The dam collapse here has left 58 people dead, as 305 people remain missing from the January 25 tragedy. Meanwhile, a court in Brazil has frozen USD 1.3 billion, belonging to mining corporation Vale in light of the incident. On January 25, the Vale-owned dam collapsed, causing a mudslide which left large-scale destruction and death in its wake. The tragedy comes four years after the Bento Rodrigues dam disaster, when an iron ore tailings dam collapsed, killing 19 people. The disaster had sparked a humanitarian crisis, as toxic mudflow polluted vers and the Atlantic ocean.

Gilgit-Baltistan (PoK), Jan 25 (ANI): A strong wave of protests has erupted in the wake of a Supreme Court of Pakistan's verdict, which has upheld the GB order 2018- a package introduced last year to take away the powers granted to the Gilgit-Baltistan assembly and transferring them to Pakistan's Prime Minister. Earlier, the verdict came as a response to a series of petitions challenging the Gilgit-Baltistan Order, 2018, Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance Order, 2009. Petitioners had accused Islamabad of introducing such orders to suppress the people of the region. Ruckus hits Nepal's Parliament

Kathmandu (Nepal), Jan 23 (ANI): A ruckus erupted in Nepal's Lower House of parliament on Tuesday as opposition MPs from the Nepali Congress came protesting over the bills which were to be presented. The opposition Nepali Congress has been protesting in parliament over government's decision to dismiss two hospitals bearing the name of the former Prime Ministers Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala, also the leaders of Nepali Congress. The Government of Nepal is making the attempt to file the Medical Education Bill despite the objection of the opposition Nepali Congress. The first round of meeting was forced to be cancelled after the ruckus erupted in the parliament without entering the schedule. Coast Guard of India and Japan kick-starts disaster control exercise in Yokohama

Yokohama (Japan), Jan 23 (ANI): Coast Guard of India and Japan on Wednesday kicked-off their disaster control, search and rescue exercises off the coast of Yokohama in Japan. Indian Coast Guard Ship ICGS Shaunak is the main Indian ship taking part in the drills. The ICGS 'Shaunak' is a 105 metre class offshore patrol vessel and is one of the largest ships in the Indian Coast Guard. The two coast guard have been working very closely from the last two three years after establishment of deeper ties between both the sides at the highest political level.

Voice of Karachi demands Pakistan to declare urban areas of Sindh an autonomous region

Washington DC (USA), Jan 23 (ANI): A Washington DC based advocacy group for the rights of Mohajirs, 'Voice of Karachi' on its first anniversary made some important announcements at the unveiling of 'Greater Karachi' plan. The group formally demanded the state of Pakistan to declare the urban areas of Sindh province as an autonomous region within the boundaries of Pakistan. Speaking at the event, Voice of Karachi chairman Nadeem Nusrat said, "Today we are going to make some very important announcements. One of them would be a plan which demands the state of Pakistan that all the urban areas of Sindh province be declared as autonomous region. Death toll mounts to 79 in gasoline pipeline explosion in Mexico

New Delhi, Jan 21 (ANI): The gasoline pipeline explosion in Tlahuelilpan has taken the lives of at least 79 people. However, 66 people have been injured in the tragic incident. The governor of the State of Hidalgo, Omar Fayad confirmed with CNN that a few of the victims are minors. No arrests have been made as of yet. The fire from the explosion has been completely doused. Meanwhile, residents living close to the pipeline have been evacuated, according to State oil company Pemex. The explosion comes at a time when there is a dearth of gas in several Mexican states, including the capital.
