Bodies of a tribal couple, who went missing for a week, were found in a well at Jaamkota village in Khandwa district today, police said.

"The duo, identified as Khumansingh Bhilala (20) and Sugnabai (19) disappeared from Pipalkota village on November 2," said Mansingh Pawar, Sub-Inspector attached to Mundi police station.

Interestingly, their family members were aware of their relationship and wanted to solemnise their marriage as they belonged to the same caste, he said.

Police said the duo died because of drowning but no suicide note was found from the spot.

"Though their family members were trying to locate them, they have not filed a missing person's report with police," Pawar said.

The bodies have been fished out and autopsy was conducted on the spot as they were in a decomposed state, he said, adding that post-mortem report has mentioned drowning as the cause behind their death.
