Jagdish Capoor, chairman, UTI, is likely to go back to the Reserve Bank as a deputy governor next month when his deputation at UTI comes to an end.
Capoor, the senior-most executive director of the central bank, has been at the helm of affairs at the country's largest mutual fund since February this year.
His deputation will end on September 30, the day S S Tarapore, senior-most RBI deputy governor, retires. If elevated, Capoor will be the fourth deputy governor of RBI. The other three are S P Talwar, R V Gupta and Y V Reddy, secretary, banking division, ministry of finance.
