We think you should stick to petrol and buy a Toyota Corolla. Yup, it may not sound very sophisticated if you have spent time in the US. But the Corolla is fuss-free, reliable to a fault and even economical. The Octavia is a nice machine too, but lacks rear seat comfort.  The biggest issue of buying a new Skoda though is the fact that a new model will make a debut soon
