Italy beats Germany 2-0, gets into final

Italy beats Germany 2-0 in the first semi final of the FIFA World Cup 2006.

Grosso & Del Piero scored the goals for Italy in the extra time.

Germany and Italy have only met once at this stage before, in 1970 where Italy obtained a 4-3 win in extra time. Italy also beat Germany 3-1 in the World Cup final of 1982.

Italy will play the final against the winner of the France-Portugal match.
