10 Yo China restaurants coming up in Punjab

Ashish Sharma New Delhi/ Jalandhar
Gurgaon-based Moods Hospitality Private Ltd is all set to open its Yo China restaurants in Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Amritsar in Punjab and has set a target 100 per cent growth in the current financial year to reach a Rs 40-crore turnover.

Apart from opening Chinese restaurants in the three cities, the company planned to open 10 more Chinese restaurants, as the market in Punjab had a very strong potential, Ashish Kapur, managing director, Moods Hospitality Private Ltd, said.

"Punjab is a market with potential. In two years, we are planning to open 10 new restaurants in Punjab. We will target the wide consumer base in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar. We are looking for space in new shopping malls in these cities and are planning to make our presence felt in Patiala, but for that we have to ensure a proper and consistent supply chain of raw material, especially sea food, first," he added.

The company had opened a restaurant in Chandigarh in October last year. Now in less than a year, company strategists feel Punjab is the best testing ground for the launch of any product or service in the country.

Kapur said at present the three-year-old company had around 20 restaurants under the brand name Yo China in the country, including 12 in the NCR.

The company would open one restaurant each in Mangalore, Bangalore and Hyderabad in a couple of weeks, he said, adding that the company also planned to increase the number of its restaurants to 100 by 2009.

"During this financial year, we have set a turnover target of Rs 40 crore. It would go up by leaps and bounds when our 10 restaurants run in full swing in Punjab in a couple of years," he said.
