33 Indian firms in Forbes 2000 list

| As many as 33 Indian public firms, including ONGC, BHEL, SBI, Reliance Industries and Tata Steel, figure in the Forbes list of 2,000 biggest public companies of the world. ONGC is at the top of the Indian list at 256 with a net profit of $3,282 million followed by Reliance Industries ($1,746 million). Japan topped the list with 320 companies in the Asia-Pacific region followed by the China-Hong Kong combine with 64 companies. "The home offices of the world's biggest public companies span 55 nations, but more than half can be found in the US, Japan and the UK," the report said. US-based Citigroup was on top of the list with a net profit of $24,638 million. |
