Ac Nielsen To Unveil Retail Services Soon

AC Nielsen will launch retailing services, such as Spaceman, modelling and analytics services and category management services in the country.
AC Nielsen managing director (retail measurement services, Asia-Pacific) Russell Farmery said, "ORG-MARG will be facilitating the launch of all these retail measurement services and products."
AC Nielsen and ORG-MARG are planning to launch modelling and analytics service in the country in 2002. This service helps a manufacturer track his product in the market and it also advises him on the positioning and pricing of his products with respect to his competitors. "This service helps a manufacturer to build an apt strategy and leverage his products effectively in the marketplace," said Farmery.

The other service that AC Nielsen plans to launch is targeted at the retail industry. There are plans to launch branded Spaceman here by end-2002 or in the beginning of 2003. "The retail industry is opening up here but it needs to firm up a bit more. We are keeping a close watch and will launch our Spaceman at the right time," said Farmery. Spaceman is a software which helps in both inventory as well as display management. It helps a retailer keep track of which brands have higher sales and also informs him about the visibility of various products. "Spaceman helps the retailer to make decisions about how much of a particular product to stock and about its visual merchandising," he said.
There are also plans to bring in more retail measurement services in the country such as Category Management Services and in course of time the Category Business Planner.
In fact the plans are afoot to consolidate AC Nielsen and ORG-MARG services here, as the Dutch media conglomerate VNU holds a majority stake in both the outfits. VNU acquired AC Nielsen globally nearly 12 months ago.
Farmery was speaking on the sidelines of the launch of the AC Nielsen's service Advisor here.
Advisor will organise ORG-MARG's retail store audit data into information via personalised reports and libraries that focus on key business issues, thereby enhancing brand performance.
