ACC draws up expansion plans

| ACC Limited, which currently has 11 cement and concrete plants across the country with a total capacity of 18.3 million tonnes per annum (tpa), has drawn up major expansion plans to be executed by 2009. "The cement industry in the country is currently growing at 10 per cent per annum and we would also like to expand our capacity at the same rate," ACC's business head - south and west, Aravind Pathak, said. He, however, declined to disclose the details of the expansion plans. Pathak said the installed capacity of ACC's unit at Wadi in Karnataka would go up from the existing 4.6 million tpa to over 5 million tpa by the end of this year. The company inaugurated its first 'ACC Help Centre' here and its 14th in the country recently. The help centre provides information and guidance to customers on construction practices and various home building-related procedures. |
