Alstom Power Okays Merger Of Three Arms With Itself

Alstom today decided to merge Alstom Transport Limited and Alstom Power Boilers Ltd with Alstom Power India Ltd. The Alstom Power board met today in Delhi to consider the amalgamation.

The merger is expected to provide greater consumer focus and help the organisation in being more competitive and utilise inhouse manufacturing capabilities, an Alstom statement said. It also said that Alstom is studying the option of merging other subsidiaries into Alstom Power.

Alstom has 16 ventures in India. Two of these, Alstom Power and Alstom India, are listed, while the others are closely-held.

To simplify and strengthen operations in India, Alstom has been studying the complex structure of its diverse operations. The new alignment is also help the organisation to better withstand the fluctuation in project business. According to Alstom, this will enhance and optimise its performance by using existing resources and competencies.

 

Alstom is a global specialist in energy and transport infrastructure and employs about one lakh employees in over 70 countries.
