Asian Granito aims to increase capacity utilization to 80%

Asian Granito India Ltd (AGIL) is aiming to improve its capacity utilization to 80 percent within a year. The company runs eight manufacturing units in Gujarat with a combined production capacity of 100,000 square meters per day.

"We are using technology to improve our production utilisation and development. Currently, the company is utilizing around 70 per cent and we want to increase it to 80 percent within a year," said Kamlesh Patel, Chairman and Managing Director, Asian Granito India Ltd.

AGIL had recently spent around Rs 170 crore to acquire Crystal Ceramics Industries Private Limited and set up a state-of-art manufacturing unit near Mehsana in Gujarat. The tile manufacturing unit has a production capacity of 12,000 square meters a day.

 

The company is also aiming to increase its exports. At present, it exports tiles to over 50 countries with around five percent export share in its total revenue that was worth Rs 993.88 crore during 2015-16.

"Demand for Indian-made ceramic tiles has been growing worldwide because of quality and prices. We are also trying to increase our exports to 8 per cent this year. Europe has preferred to buy ceramic products from China so far, but now the situation has changed and this will beneficial for India," said Patel.

The ceramics products maker is also looking to strengthen its hold in the retail sector by ensuring its customers go through the entire range of products offered.

At present, it has eight manufacturing units in Gujarat and over 80 showrooms across India.
