Asian mkts weak, Nikkei drops nearly 150pts

Japanese stocks were down, but off earlier lows, on Monday on worries over the US economy.

The Nikkei ended morning trade down 1% at 14,544.12 - a decline of 147.29 points.

Stocks were down sharply in Hong Kong with the benchmark Hang Seng Index dropping 3% in morning trades.
