Swedish industrial solutions provider Atlas Copco will expand its manufacturing unit in Hyderabad with an investment of Rs 70 crore by the end of this year.
The company aims to make new products from this plant to cater to the Indian and African markets.
Rotary products for oil and gas application, hard metal mining instruments, and innovative deep hole drilling machines are some of the new products that will be manufactured in this plant as a collaborative step towards Indian government's 'Make in India' initiative, Atlas Copco President and CEO Ronnie Leten said.
The manufacturing capacity at Hyderabad plant will be doubled by this year-end and the facility will be fully operational by March 2017.
It will also set up a global R&D test centre for the rock drilling products. This would help its customers in enhancing their productivity.
Other than Hyderabad, Atlas Copco has manufacturing facilities at Pune and Nashik in India. It has more than 2,500 skilled workers at 22 offices in the country. The 56-year old company is engaged in manufacturing of compressors, vacuum solutions, air treatment systems, power tools, assembly systems, construction and mining equipment.
On Tuesday, Ronnie Leten has launched three new locally manufactured compressor products -- Electric Portable Compressor, XRHS65 Compressor, and VSD+ ranging from 7 kW to 37 kW. Domestic production of these compressors will lead to quick and reliable delivery, he said.
