Bangalore-based fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, Britannia Industries has posted a 30 per cent rise in its net profit to Rs 134.3 crore on consolidated basis in the last financial year on the back of sound growth in sales volume.
Total sales of the company increased 22 per cent to Rs 4605 crore during this period. Meantime, the company has posted a 62 per cent rise in its operating profit to Rs 185.36 crore as compared with Rs 114.47 crore reported an year earlier.
NHPC profit rises 3.6%
State-run hydro-power producer NHPC has posted a 3.64 per cent increase in its profit at Rs 2,166.67 crore for the financial year ended March, 2011 against a profit of Rs 2090.50 crore in 2009-10.
The increase in profits was achieved due to high income from other segments and lower expenses due to lesser interest outgo in the last financial year.

Chennai-based direct-to-home service provider Sun Direct TV posted 48 per cent jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 769.76 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 519.90 crore in the previous year. During the year, the company’s consolidated income stood at Rs 2,013.46 crore, a 39 per cent increase from Rs 1,452.84 crore reported in the previous financial year.
Gitanjali Gems’ net rises
Leading branded jewellery manufacturer and retailer Gitanjali Gems Ltd, posted a staggering 77.3 per cent growth in its net profit at Rs 354.8 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 200 crore in the last financial year. Net sales of the company rose 44.9 per cent to Rs 9,456 crore from Rs 6,527 crore in the period under consideration.
