The Confederation of Indian Industry-Ernst & Young report released today called for a more cohesive approach among the eastern states to realise the full potential of the region’s mineral wealth.
“The respective governments of the eastern states and the metals and mining industry need to work collaboratively to allow the region’s mineral wealth to shine across the globe,” concluded Anjani Agrawal, Partner and National Metals & Mining Leader, Ernst & Young.
Among the many recommendations, the report “Sun Rises in the East” has suggested that the governments of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal should work on integrated long term planning to ensure the availability of proper infrastructure and logistics to mining companies, so they can operate in an environment favourable to business growth.
“States need to play a catalyst role in bringing together and developing synergy between infrastructure players and industry,” Agrawal said.
