Cipla net profit jumps 43% to Rs 179.5 cr

Total income has increased by 21 per cent to Rs 1162.7 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 from Rs 960.5 crore.
For the year ended March 31, 2008, the company posted a net profit after tax of Rs 700.4 crore, a rise of 4.58 per cent, as compared to Rs 668 crore last year.
Total income increased by 18.62 per cent to Rs 4, 352 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008 form Rs 3,668.7 crore, as per the audited results. Cipla has also crossed the $1 billion mark in terms of turnover in 2007-08.
Operating margins rose by 37.9 per cent for the quarter to Rs 202.69 crore compared with the Rs 146.99 crore in the corresponding previous quarter. For the year, operating margins were higher by 3.6 per cent, at Rs 849.65 crore. Other income for the quarter also advanced to Rs 41 crore, due to foreign exchange gains amounting to Rs 25 crore.

Domestic business rose by 13.2 per cent to Rs 452.48 crore during the quarter and for the year, it increased by 13.4 per cent to Rs 1,752.72 crore. Exports were up by 22.8 per cent for the quarter and for the year, it grew by 18.5 per cent to Rs 2,110.28 crore.
Technology knowhow fees for the year increased to Rs 153.38 crore, compared to Rs 76.47 crore last year.
