Breakfast cereal maker Kellogg's has appointed ex-Hindustan-Unilever-hand Harpreet Singh Tibb as marketing director for India and South Asia. The move follows Kellogg's attempts to fire up its team as competition in the breakfast cereal space gets fierce. Once a dominant player in breakfast cereals especially in corn flakes, Kellogg's over the years has had to contend with competition from Pepsi Foods, which markets the Quaker Oats brand as well as Marico (through its Saffola brand) and local players such as Bagrry's.

Apart from Tibb who has 15 years behind him, the company has also hired TS Venketram from Bangalore-headquartered Britannia to head supply chain, Kenny Abraham from PepsiCo to head sales and Deepak Shrivastav from GSK Consumer to head the legal department. The new members are expected to report to Sangeeta Pendurkar, managing director, Kellogg's India, who herself moved from Coca-Cola India two years ago to take charge of operations at the Mumbai-based breakfast cereal maker.
