FACT turns around in Q4

Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Limited (FACT) made a turnaround in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2009-10 by earning a net profit of Rs 93 lakh. However, for the full year the public sector fertiliser company posted a loss of Rs 62 crore as against a loss of Rs 178 crore in the previous year.

Production of factamfos, the premium product of the company, reached 7,53,744 tonnes as against 6,05,047 tonnes achieved during 2008-09. It produced 1,79,546 tonnes of ammonium sulphate compared with 1,28,845 tonnes last year. Caprolactam production, a petrochemical product, touched 42,006 tonnes (13,548 tonnes).

On the other hand, total sale of factamfos increased to 7,26,985 tonnes from 6,05,828 tonnes. Ammonium sulphate registered a total sale of 1,44,906 tonnes during 2009-10, as against 1,17,941 tonnes in the previous year.

 

Sale of Caprolactam rose three-fold to 38,253 tonnes as against 12,291 tonnes. Exports to improved considerably with a total outflow of 9,571 tonnes as against 3,842 tonnes exported during 2008-09.

The company’s total sales turnover in 2009-10 declined marginally to Rs 2,116 crore from Rs 2,169 crore during the previous year. This was on account of fall in raw material prices, a FACT release said here on Thursday.
