Fear of losing documents? Digitise them with Warrantify

In November last year, Pritpal Singh bought a microwave. After two months, the appliance developed a snag and stopped functioning properly. The appliance was in warranty period; so Singh, a manager working with an MNC, approached the dealer to get it rectified. The dealer demanded the bill or the warranty card, but he couldn’t produce either of the two it. He had, in fact, misplaced them.
Careless storage of important documents is a common problem that new-age consumers face. Mostly, it is hectic work schedule that makes it tough to manage papers like investments receipts, warranty card, bills and receipts.
Now, Finland’s Warrantify Oy has now innovatively come up with a solution to the problem. The Helsinki-based entity, founded by Indian entrepreneur Haritash Tamvada, functions with the idea of making paper management easier - — in fact, creating a paperless environment. The company helps customers digitise paper-based warranties and receipts.
This is likely to transform the way one manages warranties and invoices that tend to get misplaced or lose access when required. The data and copies will be accessible both online and on mobile phones at the click of a mouse.
It was in June 2011 that Warrantify Oy started its Indian operations. Today, it has over 500 customers across India. In order to penetrate deeper into the Indian market, the company is in the process of setting up its office in Hyderabad. Its name: Warrantify Internet Services (Private) Ltd.

Tamvada said his company was upbeat over India, looking at its large customer base of white goods and FMCG products. “We have received very good response,” he told Business Standard. “In order to reach out prospective customers, we are planning to have tie up with online retailers to simplify the process by getting the digitised warranty and receipts from the retailers directly into the consumer’s account.”
As for its expansion plans, the company is planning to shortly introduce Android and iPhone-based application. “It is in the testing stage. It can be rolled out very soon,” Tamvada revealed. “With the help of the application, the user can click the pictures of their receipts. They will download automatically on their Warrantify application. You need to just keep track of them, and access them whenever you need.”
The company has already injected Rs 1.5 crore in its Indian operations. It is now in the process of raising Rs 5 crore (from Angel Investors). Warrantify is looking a customer base of 5,000 by the end of its quarter-2 (June 2012) of the current financial year.
Once a consumer register with the firm on the website, he/she can upload the documents via desktop or a smart phone app. By doing so, the consumer digitally archives warranties, receipts, PAN cards and other necessary documents.
