Hero sales head joins Oman retail company

Anil Dua joins Oman Trading Establishment LLC (OTE) as its managing director

Anil Dua, the former senior vice president (sales, marketing and customer care) of the Munjal family-promoted Hero Motocorp, has joined Middle East-based Oman Trading Establishment LLC (OTE) as its managing director.

Dua, who quit the world's largest two-wheeler company last month, will be steering OTE's expansion plans which has interests in distribution of automotive brands, automotive parts, consumer electronic, home appliances.

The company, which is part of the multi-billion Suhail Bahwan group also does vehicle leasing, sale/purchase of pre-owned cars, manufacture of polymer colorants. It also runs vocational training institutes. The diversified Suhail Bahwan group has operates in the engineering and construction, steel, building materials, fertilizers, chemicals, energy, power, IT, travel and tourism.

 

OTE has automotive dealerships of Chevrolet, Cadillac, Hyundai, Isuzu Trucks, Ssangyong, Subaru, Cherry, Shell to name a few while also having LG Electronics, White-Westinghouse and Bosch Home Appliances among others.

"After an eight year very successful stint at Hero MotoCorp I decided to take up something more challenging and interesting. I looked at opportunities in India and there were some very big opportunities in the automotive space. But I decided to take up this option instead", said Dua having spent a week at his new assignment.

Dua, who joined Hero MotoCorp (then Hero Honda) in 2006, was instrumental in sprucing up sales, marketing, advertising, dealer development and after-sales operations in India. Under his leadership the company built new brands while strengthening older brands, refreshed and introduced the largest two-wheeler range in India.

These brands included Splendor, Passion, Karizma, Pleasure, Maestro, CBZ to name a few. Dua played a pivotal role in creation and promotion of brand 'Hero' after separating from Honda Motor Company in late 2010. Hero decided to venture alone pushing its targets of maintaining the rank of the biggest two-wheeler manufacturer.

Under Dua and his team Hero nearly doubled its sales to 6.11 million as of March 31, 2014 as compared to 3.25 million units sold at the close of March 31, 2007, according to data supplied by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
