Hewlett-Packard India (HP) is aiming to increase its sales three times higher in Flood I-T project of Gujarat Urban Bank Co-operative Banks Federation (GUBCBF). HP has joined hand with GUBCBF for the project.
"HP was the part of Flood I-T project phase one in 2009 and we decided to go for it in second phase also. Last time we were the largest seller in this project and the company is now aiming to triple its sale in second phase of Flood I-T project," said Vinay Awasthi - senior director, Product Category, PPS, HP India.
Last time co-operative banks had offered loans for 100,000 computers and this time GUBCBF is targeting loans for 300,000 computers under the project. In 2009, three companies had participated in Flood I-T projects and HP had sold around 37,000 computers in it. While this time seven companies are going to join this project.

Awasthi said, "As we are the largest player in computer industry in India, people trusted on us. We are targeting sales of over 100,000 computers in Gujarat under Flood I-T project. We will soon start campaigning in various educational institutions for this project."
Talking about the products on offer, Awasthi stated, "We are offering everything from laptops to desktops and all-in-ones, allowing students to select the most appropriate device for their own requirements."
Students in Gujarat from KG to PG can now receive great discount on the market price of an HP personal computer as part of this latest scheme and will also be eligible for interest-free loans for the purchase of these devices.
According to a study by Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) on Flood I-T project, 145 cooperative banks and 100 cooperative societies had participated in this project in 2009-10. Due to this project, sales of computer in Gujarat increased almost 30 percent and around 7,500 new members were added in cooperatives banks.
