Japanese stationary company Shachihata forays into Pune

Company has set up a plant near Chennai which will manufacture products like pens, crayons, oil pastels, geometry boxes and others

After Tamil Nadu, Japanese stationary product company Shachihata  today announced its entry into Pune market with the launch of its special range of pens — The Twist ball pen, Ergoline roller ball pen, Ergoline Calligraphy pen, Softline gel pen and Flow retractable ball pen.

Anup Rana, managing director, Shachihata India said, “These products will be launched during the first quarter of the next fiscal year.”

“The company will manufacture products for the domestic market from the Chennai plant and would also look at outsourcing model for manufacturing them,” he said.

India, Rana said, is strategically a very important market for us as it is a hub of students who are the primary consumers of stationery products.
 

“With our entry into this market we hope to provide the consumers a global range of products that are of highest quality and adhere to all safety measures,” Rana added.

The company has set up a plant near Chennai which will manufacture products like pens, crayons, oil pastels, geometry boxes and others.

Currently, the plant has a capacity to manufacture three million pieces of marker pens per month.

Rana currently holds a 49 per cent  stake in Artline India, a subsidiary of Shachihata Inc. in which Shachihata owns 51 per cent stake.
