Private air carrier Jet Airways today said it had received delivery of its first Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which would be inducted in the airline's fleet this month.

The aircraft is the first of the 11 such Boeing 737-800s, whose delivery is expected between October 2011 and March next year, Jet Airways said in a statement.

"The Boeing 737 has been an essential part of our product offering in the past and Jet Airways selected the next generation state-of-the art Boeing 737-800 aircraft because of its high degree of operational flexibility and economy," the company's Chief Commercial Officer Sudheer Raghavan said.

These new Boeing 737-800 aircraft will also possess better economy, given the fact that they will have over 1% less fuel burn, compared to the airline's fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft.

Jet Airways currently operates a fleet of 98 aircraft, which includes 10 Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, 12 Airbus A330-200 aircraft, 56 Boeing 737-700/800/900 aircraft and 10 ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft, it said.
