JSW Steel net profit at Rs 413.25 cr

JSW Steel has posted a net profit of Rs 413.25 crore, an increase of 0.62 per cent for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 compared with Rs 410.68 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income for the reporting quarter grew by 30.76 per cent to Rs 2,579.27 crore from Rs 1,972.43 crore for the same period of the previous year.

Meanwhile, the company is bidding for a coke-based coal mine in Australia with 350 million tonne reserves. The country's fourth largest steel maker is also looking at coal mines in southern Africa and Australia.
