The Kaiga generating station unit-3 which was shut down recently was synchronised with the southern grid at 11.25 pm on Tuesday after the successful completion of all surveillance tests, according to a press release issued by site director, Kaiga Nuclear Power Station, J P Gupta.
The release said the unit is operating at 120 Mw and power will be raised gradually. Presently, all the four units of Kaiga generating station are in the process of operation.
The Fukushima nuclear accident had started a wave of anti-nuclear activism across the world.
There have been echoes of that at Kaiga too. Kaiga authorities have since then trying to lay to rest any fears.
Site director, Kaiga nuclear power plant J P Gupta, had earlier in the week denied that the radiation levels around the Kaiga site is high and said it was much below the prescribed levels of international agencies.
He stressed that all reactors are very safe and there is no reason to worry.
