The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has chalked out a multi-pronged strategy to promote the 'Made in Kerala' brand to hard sell the state to the outside world.

Inaugurating the Brand Summit 2014 organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) Kerala chapter, Aruna Sundararajan, managing director, KSIDC, said the strategy is to leverage the state's inherent advantages such as the 'green and clean image' to promote certain niche industries.

The government would soon introduce 'Green Credit' to promote certain lines of industries. The seed capital for the new strategy has already been provided in the latest state budget.

The strategy will focus on promoting environment friendly industries such as organic fabrics, organic packaging materials and knowledge and technology-based industries.

"We have the inherent advantage of being an environmental friendly state. We also have the credit of having one of the best labour practices and values. Many countries had literally banned imports of Chinese goods because of their poor track record in environmental standards and labour practices", she said.

She also said the government would soon set up start-up villages exclusively for women entrepreneurs.
